Coach Rehab and Rescue Club

Spray with vodka and put in freezer for a week...that's what I've been told to help with smelly bags.
My freezer doesn't have the space. However I did already try a few things like spraying it with hand sanitizer and wiped it all over with rubbing alcohol. Actually I sprayed some enzyme cleaner stuff for pet stinkies in it and that has worked quite a bit. I think I'll give it a few more days rest then try some febreeze followed by some more Obenaufs oil. I have it sitting near an air purifier right now since it's too rainy to have windows open.

I'm not seeing any mold. I wonder about those lines on the flap. They look like folds. They could be permanent. I've seen similar folds on Coach bags, but not so many so close together, and the ones I've seen IRL looked like they might have been there when the bag was made, like one of those characteristics of natural leather. These don't look very natural, being so many and going so many directions.

The flap is darker than the rest of the bag, making me think it could be from hand oils, which would be hard to clean off.

Any lighter colored rehab is a risk. You really don't know how well you'll be able to improve it.
Thank you for the insight, this is super helpful! I think I'll pass on that bag given your thoughts.

Hi, yesterday I bought a coach ranch bag and I was wondering if someone could help me how to restore and rehab it )

Also could someone help me with the colour (the seller described it with ‘military green’)

I first thought that the bag could be painted because of these pictures;
It looks like there are darker areas.
But I was told that it’s not painted, can someone tell me what’s happened there?

Have you received the bag yet or are these the pictures from the online sale? It may just be a little dehydrated or perhaps it has some fading. After you receive the bag take good pictures inside and out and post them here for advice. It looks like a lovely bag!

Ambitious new project! Large Courier in really rough condition. Multiple rips and tears.
Here's a progress report. Working on the buckle attachments, which were ripped on all 4 corners. Not done, but looking better! I'm using Aileen's leather glue, and Edge Kote.

That looks good. Those couriers always end up worn around that area, stewardesses too. I don't always bother going to much effort other than a little glue. I have one of the small couriers that was in horrible condition particularly torn worse than yours and I actually created a leather patch for each side and glued it on. It looks okay i think and has held up1711736367546737800432930644209.jpg.

That looks great. I didn't think of that as an answer! It's not too late for me to consider it.

Here's a rundown on the Ranch bag #9852. At 5:30 in the video, she says it debuted in 1990, and the catalogue pic shows "Forest Green" as one of the colors the bag came in.

Hi! 👋🏻 While you’re waiting for your bag to come in, I’d highly recommend reading through this thread.

In addition, check out BirdyBloom’s channel, sort her videos by popular.
This video was also helpful.

If you have TikTok follow Will and watch his coach restoration videos.

In addition to this rehab thread, all of these videos, helped me with my first Coach rehab. I hope this helps you!

I will post updated photos when I finish this round of conditioning, however, the piping on my court bag did not rejuvenate. The color is still washed out. The rest of the bag, as well as the brown bag, look pretty good. I’m planning to buff and black rocks just to see if I can bring a bit more color and luster. After that, I will show photos. I might need to live with the court bag or work up the courage to paint the piping areas that remain discolored.

Beat up black Courier is done (for now). I really love it!! Sharing my results. Got the bag for cheap, because, well, it was ripped everywhere and greatly faded to the point who knew what color it is. And a really mangled strap that seller was too embarrased to include in the listing. I did not dye the bag at all except over the rip on bottom left piping and the buckle areas, as the color came back with conditioning. I don't love the shredded buckle areas shinyness and there's still gouges, but when the strap is on, and you're carrying the bag, none of that is visible.
