Thanks for answering. Do you have experience with either of these products?

Amazon TRG shoe cream

Amazon Tarrago Leather Dye

Not really. I think you might have trouble getting leather dye to work on the patent surface.

Thanks. I might give it a shot anyway--the leather is much less shiny since I washed it and some places like the handle are completely dull, so maybe it is worth a shot. I searched both listings for the term patent and some people reported success with it. So I guess I will try it!
I think that a shiny acryllic paint for craft products might be the best option, but I haven't tried to colorize patent leather, either.

I just got a Fletcher 4150 in red for rehab. Same day, another person was requesting authentication for another red 4150. Seems to be a lot of interest in this style lately!
if you don't mind, keep me updated on this rehab. I've got a red quincey and the color hasn't come back after rehabbing. i've been holding onto this little jar of dye.

My Gray United States Court Bag is too well loved. I’m going to try to moisturize her back to rejuvenate the scuffed piping and scratches.

you should be fine bringing this back to life with conditioner. i had a black Lula's a few months ago, that was a hot mess, and she restored beautifully with cleaning and conditioning.

Will do. I like how this bag looks, so hoping I don't need to re-dye it. I have this in mind for recoloring the edges of the strap.

yeah, i've been hesitant to do anything with this bag, because i'm not sure how well it'll color match. i reached out to angelus a few months ago, asking what they would recommend, and they asked to see more pics of the bag. i don’t know, i've seen a lot of comments in here about Saphir.

I did see that yesterday too! In fact I did a double check to see if you both were requesting the same listing and saw you were not. I def want to try out that style. I was happy to find a Bantam backpack that didn't break the bank, but it turns out I am not in love with the thin strap for crossbody, at the end of the day. I do want to get my hands on a Fletcher but I can wait.

Has anybody re-dyed their vintage bags, in particular a red bag? I have a Quincey that I cleaned up, but the color hasn’t come back much. If you have, what brand and color did you use?

Also, while I’ve been organizing my closet I found this cleaner. This has to be from around 2004.

I was just thinking of this too; if you search LadaZuri's posts, she ended up using a company that made the dye custom. I also think others here used it. You send them the hand tag and they matched it. It was expensive but it was exactly what she wanted.

Someone on another thread suggested cutting an onion and putting it inside a smelly bag before hanging it outside. She said it worked for smoke odors. Someone try this and let us know if it works.
Sounds like a hoax! Onion "juice" stains on the lining might be a new problem. Even if smoke smell leaves, how do you get rid of the onion smell? I like my method of coffee grounds in a sock in a pillowcase with the purse. I'm doing that right now with a "perfumy" bag.

Hi everyone, I'm relatively new to the forum and wondering if this is an appropriate place to ask for advice? I've rehabbed a black city bag (authenticated by this community!). I enjoyed the process and am looking for another project. I am wondering about the discoloration on this Devon bag - does it look like mildew/mold to folks or oil of some kind on the top flap? Do you think that cleaning/moisturizing would bring back a more consistent color or is it stained for good? (for background it's currently on mercari, I haven't purchased it). Any advice is appreciated!

I'm not seeing any mold. I wonder about those lines on the flap. They look like folds. They could be permanent. I've seen similar folds on Coach bags, but not so many so close together, and the ones I've seen IRL looked like they might have been there when the bag was made, like one of those characteristics of natural leather. These don't look very natural, being so many and going so many directions.

The flap is darker than the rest of the bag, making me think it could be from hand oils, which would be hard to clean off.

Any lighter colored rehab is a risk. You really don't know how well you'll be able to improve it.
