Here is the after bath and some CPR picture--and a close up of the marks. Any tips on how to try to get these out? I have no idea what they are. Should I try another bath? I think they are more noticeable in person than the photo, especially from certain angles. If they were on the back I wouldn't care...

Ok, after being terrified of dunking to dunking my first bag 2 days ago, I think I've completely gone insane! I just bought a Sonoma Flap in green nubuck and she really needs a bath. I'm going to dunk and scrub. I've done research sounds like Fels Naptha will be my friend and then a suede eraser and brush when dry. Wish me luck!!

(Before pic to follow)

Well do far it's an interesting project. The bag didn't smell when dry, but, smelled a little like a barnyard when I got it wet...

Here is a progress picture....dunking, then after scrubbing with a toothbrush and Fels Naptha...

I don't have any experience but would love to see pix. My guideline for something unknown is really if the bag is usable in the condition it's in. If it's going to be tossed or sit in the closet then I might try it. If it's just a matter of freshening I would probably try something more gentle.

My main concern is the strap, is already cracked and I have been putting coats and coats of CPR and although a bit better, still not the way I hoped to be, perhaps it is already too late.

I was thinking about dunking the strap, the rest is not that bad.

I don't think dunking would help. I think you might be able to apply something like Leather Refinisher to the edges.

You can lightly sand the stains if necessary. I'm looking forward to seeing the final result!

What a gorgeous bag! I don't have any suggestion for the stains, sorry.

Thanks for that info, I have a suede eraser and brush...

Once it's dry and hopefully clean and no more spots, is there something I could treat the Nubuck with that would help protect it from other dirt or spills? (I have a slobbery dog...) Would something like that Apple Guard I seen mentioned help?

I've never treated mine but I think you could use any water-proofing spray like Scotchguard or Shining Monkey. I've never used Apple Guard.

Ok, I'll have to see if I have my spay protector that I got with my Mukluks a few years ago. I'm sure that will work as the Mukluks are suede moose-hide. I just watched a video that was using special cleaning products and his example was cleaning a pair of nubuck Coach wedge boots. He said you can use a hairdryer to dry the leather....I might try that to speed up the drying of my bag. I have no patience!!!
