Thanks so much for this! I have been worried about washing my Sonoma Nubuc, but after reading this, I am ready to try!I've been thinking of posting this for days now. Seems like a good time now as ever. I've sent quite a few bags through the washing machine with great success. Feel free to chime in if you do something different or I leave something out.
I have an LG HE top loading washing machine. HE machines use very little water to wash, hence the "HE".
I have a "bulky/bedding" cycle that fills the entire tub up with water. This is what I use to limit the bag from friction while washing. Check your owners manual to find a similar setting. I use less than half the amount of detergent or Leather Therapy Laundry Detergent, but those bottles are so tiny for the price.
I set the machine for an extra rinse. I always turn off the spin cycle. Choose cool or lukewarm water. Mine has an "eco warm". Not really sure what that is, but it always sound like a good choice for my bags.
I machine wash all bags that are Signature Fabric or similar. I machine wash all Sonoma bags. I machine wash most bags with a lining unless I feel the leather is too thin. If I have two bags that are similar in color or size I will occasionally through both of them in at once. If a bag is exceptionally dirty it goes in alone.
I pretreat all fabric with my favorite pre-treatment, Shout Advanced Gel w/ Set-In Stain Scrubber.
When the cycle is done I leave the bag hanging over the side, opening side down and lining pulled out to drip dry into the washing machine tub. Once most of the water is out then I proceed with the rehab as normal.
Hope this helps anyone who is interested in trying a machine wash on a sturdy bag and wondering what to do.

Thanks for the disclaimer. In that case, I won't wash. Still trying to find a good solution to clean it and glad I didn't spend much on it.WAIT, WAIT, WAIT!

Here's the next project, another simple rehab. It is the Bonnie Pouch Charm 92482 SF9 LM and it was released in Spring 2009 for $58. I saw it when @marissa214 posted the Etsy auction in the authentication thread and Hyacinth confirmed that it was genuine. I thought it was so cute and I love that 65th Anniversary Legacy Striped lining! I asked Marissa to let me know if she decided not to buy it and she graciously told me to "go for it" and so I bought it for $30.
The charm was in very good shape, the original tag was included but it did have some small signs of wear. It was a little grubby and had a few scuffs and scratches, nothing major. I gave it a sink bath in Dawn, rinsed and pulled the lining out to let it air dry, then applied Leather Therapy Restorer and finally Leather CPR and gave the hardware a gentle rub. I considered using Blackrocks to bring out the color more, but I decided to leave it alone although I may go back to it later. What do you guys think?
The first 3 pics below are before and the last 3 are after (not much difference!) I will post Coach ads and a couple of pics of the charm in use with the next message.

So, I picked up a station bag for pretty cheap and discovered that it was cheap b/c the seller didn't show the ink stains. I'm choosing to think of this as a fun practice for rehabbing techniques. So after dunking and hitting it with a bit of isopropyl alcohol and some spots with acetone, this is what I've been doing: Basically poulticing the ink out with paper towels. I cannot believe the ink is STILL coming. I've dunked and dried the bag twice and it's still staining paper towels. How much ink can these things possibly absorb???
What do you think about washing this bag? It is not a rehab but it is one of my personal favorites and I have used her a number of times over the years, the black Poppy Groovy 13833 SBK BK.
Usually when I wash a fabric bag it has been a cheap rehab in bad shape and I wasn't too concerned about harming it, but it would be difficult to replace this sweet little bag if I ruined it.
I have washed other signature items with success and also sateen bags and it always brightens up the fabric, but this bag has a beautiful coral sateen lining and I am concerned about possible bleeding of the black color to the inside of the bag - or do you think I am just being overly cautious?
I took her on an excursion into the city yesterday and I noticed that she is looking rather worn and dull. I always store her in the closet, stuffed with tissue and in her dustbag, so I don't think that fading is the issue - but I have owned this bag for a long time and it has been used.
Here are some pics along with the drill-down and you will see that she used to gleam - maybe not quite as shiny as it appears in the drill-down pic - but now she looks tired IMO.
Do you have any other suggestions for cleaning and brightening her up? Do you think surface washing would help of should I just go ahead and take the plunge - or leave her alone? Thanks!

Can you glue it back in place?Anyone have a suggestion on how to insert the pocket back into the seam?
Maybe. It looks like it was originally glued. There are no stitches edges. Can you glue it back in place?
