Lucky for you I don't have one to share. They are too common and highly faked so I have been ignoring that style.
I joke around with friends who know Coach but don't collect the way I do that Coach must have made about 400,000 Willis bags and 399,900 are still in circulation. At one point years ago, every time I went to this popular thrift shop by and I would see a different woman every time who obviously was going to spend her day there going through EVERY rack. And she would be carrying a beat up Willis.
Good point. Coulda been fakes. I see fakes regularly at various shops, though not Willis. I bought a Foach Court. I keep it up front and center to remind me of impulse buying : /

They look like they will clean up nicely, enjoy the process. I love a working breed/bag and those look great. Oddly enough I do not have a Willis. Yet.
I acquired my 4th Willis yesterday.. I actually left one behind at Goodwill too as I already have it and it was missing its strap anyway, and it was a recent one made in China. I have 2 in black, one with nickel hardware, one with brass, a light tan (camel?) color one and yesterday I picked up dark brown. At least it was made in USA and actually technically vintage since it is 1997. The funny thing about brown bags is I keep buying them even though I hardly ever use them because I'm not much of a brown girl. I keep telling myself I will expand my wardrobe to buy more things that go with brown LOL. So that's 2 brown bags I bought yesterday, the other the Sonoma.

I will fight you for that $10 Pony at Goodwill so watch out! :yahoo:mine!

Re Coach fakes: This was probably twenty years ago, when we were at Costco. I saw what looked like Coach bags on display. I don't remember the style. Some time later, at Savers, I came across what looked like a Coach bag, but it was a Kirkland brand. I wish I had bought it, but since it wasn't Coach, I didn't want to waste my money, no matter how low the cost. It was very curious.

After a dunk in water just a little warmer than I normally use with about an ounce of Lexol leather cleaner in about 2-2 1/2 gallons of water for 20 min with a thorough scrub with a toothbrush, 20 min soak/rinse in warm water, drain, 3 applicatio s of Leather Therapy Restorer/Conditioner over 36 hours, here it is! Blackrocks to come. Pardon the lighting.View attachment 3746203 View attachment 3746204

I've got to quit going to the thrift store! I need to make my rehab piles smaller not bigger. I have been looking for a British Tan Willis Strap for the bag I just rehabbed. Maybe I should stick to shopping for it online because I keep finding more bags to rehab! Hyacinth just authenticated a Made in the United States Black Willis from 1998 that I picked up at Goodwill for only $21. How could I resist a nice, intact Willis for that price? Obviously I couldn't resist!

Great price on a nice bag, and it looks like a simple rehab is all she needs!

Ugh Kate...I've been looking for a local Willis for years with no love. Every one kerps finding them locally. I should just pull the trigger on ebay and get it over with. Can you believe I've never owned one? I have a murphy. Does that count? Your looks good!

Thanks! It is a Made in the United States in 1998 Willis and it's intact and in very good shape, no stains, smells, alterations, or damage. It is soiled and scuffed and the corners are worn, but that will rehab easily - someone used this bag a lot but took good care of if. It was marked $25 at Goodwill which I thought was a good price but they were having a sale and it was only $21 - so I just had to take it!

I have had good luck finding Willis bags. I gave 2 of my rehabbed Willis bags as gifts - a Mahogany bag and a Black Willis - and I've kept a Navy one for myself. I may keep this new black on for me, too. I recently found and rehabbed a British Tan Willis that was missing parts. It came out beautifully but I am trying to find the correct replacement strap - which is why I have gone back to checking out the thrift stores, after I broke the habit for a long time!

I am almost "too blessed" with available rehab bags and I already have deep piles needing attention and I keep finding more bags "that are just too good to resist"! I need to stay away from the thrift stores. The good news is that the Savers store near me has closed down and I used to find a lot of them there.

dstalksalot, the Murphy is a lovely bag but if you want a Willis, you could keep your eyes open on ebay and etsy to see if you find one that you would like - but they are often so expensive on the online sites! I guess it depends on how much you want it. But you never know what you may come across locally if you keep looking. After years of searching, one day I happened upon an original 1960s Bonnie Cashin Coach bag at the Salvation Army for only $2!

The hunt and thrill of discovery are what I enjoy the most about rehabbing!

excuse the mess up above. lol

Katev is absolutely right about keeping eyes open for that unexpected find. I also found a 1960's Bonnie Cashin bag at an estate sale for $32. It was with a dozen Coach bags priced $100+. This one they didn't recognize for what it was...but I did. LOL Grabbed that baby and ran to the check out.
