Yes I find myself needing more bags than I ever knew exsistes! I always thought the stewardess was to big for me but did not realize the united ones were smaller because I knew the flight attendants had to be tall. My mom was a travel agent so I think it would be a fun bag to add to my collection. This weekend I'll be cleaning out my craft closet to make room for my growing collection. Nice thing is I have so many my hubby has no clue if I am carrying a new one

I've noticed quite a few times people selling the United version don't even know that's what it's called, so you might have to be creative with your searches to find one. People not in "the know" will just call it a saddle bag half the time. Great way to score a deal, but also takes some digging and a little luck! I do think it's a nice medium size.

I love these retro pics. I think they are both smaller, I think I read somewhere that United had them made to certain specs. I will see if I can find where I saw that.

I think they are both the smaller ones.

Maybe it was Debi's site, this is all I can find: http://sacsmagnifiques.com/2014/03/...age-coach-united-airlines-stewardess-bag.html

"The airline versions of these bags are a little smaller. The airlines specified double layered straps without bindings and a badge holder in place of the front pocket. "

First off, I want to change my user name to last.nubuc.ever.

This is the one I dug out of my own garbage can in the laundry room once. The bag itself was cheap and is structurally sound in every way. It was a light putty I believe. I've dunked it probably 6 times. I actually even managed to stain it myself by accident. It's just gone from bad to way worse. This morning I think it was actually hanging petrified around hanger I last threw it on to get it out of the way.
I've used the leather therapy wash and rinse on it 2.5 times. (don't ask). And that stuff is EXPENSIVE. I've used every chemical in my rehab supply.
NOTHING is helping this poor bag. Tonight I decided to hand oil the whole thing. How could this go any more wrong, right? I'll keep at that and see how it turns out. 80's leather bomber jacket?
At least it will have fuel when I finally decide to torch it in the barbeque. I'm really never gonna carry this or sell it, but why can't I look away????
Maybe I can gift it to my older, ex-hippie Sister???

First off, thank you from the bottom of my heart for that post!!
I can post pics tomorrow of a sister lite tote I just bought that may or may not possibly be shellaced (sp?). Since the product mine is coated in may also be an accellerant, it can successfully join yours in the bonfire.
And OMG, if your ex-hippie sister does not want your tote, I am sure my ex-hippie older sister will , and may possibly buy it from you and use it for work (college professor). Now that I think of it, if my rehab goes south, I will just gift my sister my bag (if she does not want to buy it!). Or let's just exchange bags, give them to respective sisters. They are thrilled and we can move on with our lives. Problem solved lol lol.
The pull of these bags borders on the earth's gravitational force, I hear you.
May the (nubuc) force be with you and if it comes to a bonfire, please let me know when and where!

Side note: Wasn't there a Flight Attendant Ken doll? The oldsters will know what I am talking about.
Happy Friday everyone

Ha..... I am an oldster! I think he was a pilot or a captain He came with a bag and a flight log . They come up for action periodically.

There was a stewardess Barbie and a pilot Ken - but now both Barbie and Ken are pilots! See the link below:

Would you dunk? This bag has light fading at the bottom corners and appears to be in great condition otherwise, much better than I had expected from the eBay listing.

Up to you! I nearly almost always dunk if there's any fading, unless I pick up something that literally looks nearly-new (rare, if ever haha). The moisture really helps bring the color back better than conditioning alone. Plus it's nice to know the inside is fresh too. That being said, totally up to you! Sometimes a little conditioner is all a bag needs :)

I really like to dunk! I am wondering whether the glued-in serial would come unglued in the process.
