I just got a nubuc sonoma too in a lighter color. When you put it in your machine, what detergent did you use and did you put it in a lingerie bag or just throw it in there?View attachment 3724480 View attachment 3724481

I suggest putting it in a bag......can't really remember the detergent I used but it was probably something that I just used for my regular laundry.....bad I know! But it turned out fine.

Hello everyone. I am brand new to the club and have a BIG problem. I used obenaufs leTher oil on my old carrier bag and it worked great! The leather feels like new and the fading of the mahogany color disappeared. I thought great! Then... I used it on my British Tan stewardess bag and what a disaster! The color darkened. I will try to post the pictures. The strap is original color. Please oh please tell this idiot novice,me, what to do.

It will lighten, just wait a week or so and you will love how it looks. You should also do the strap so they match. The color will be a bit deeper than it was but it will look better after a bit I promise! I often use this on light, older bags and it always looks horrible at first as it goes on unevenly, you get streaks and blotches. Then they just disappear after a few days and the overall color is more even and richer.
Hi, I will second Belicious. I used Obenauf's on a putty/tabac convertable clutch and a red basic bag and over about a month the color lightened considerably. Just keep breathing!

Is it safe to do dunk a bag with ink blobs? Would they spread in warm sudsy water?

Actually I have to revise my results about the ink the bath. 2 new spots bled through from the inside to the outside, after the bath, while it was drying. As I'm going to be covering them with paint anyway and they are right near the other spots I'm not that concerned. Luckily they are all under the flap. In every other way the bag is now looking beautiful and clean on the outside .Still worth dunking despite the ink bleed.

What kind of paint do you use to cover the ink spots?
