Moisturizer will only give you a temporary fix. As soon as it soaks in, the area will continue to look dull. You might try mixing just a tiny bit of acrylic gloss in with your conditioner. I've never tried this on an entire bag so you'd be experimenting, but I used it on places where acrylic paint has made the leather less shiny than the rest. The conditioner that gives the best shine is Blackrocks but it can temporarily darken. For a light non-darkening conditioner, I recommend Cadillac or Lexol, but I don't know how much shine you'll get. For great moisturizing, I use Leather CPR. It doesn't usually darken.
Many thanks for your recommendations. It is a very small area that is barely noticeable, certainly not by anyone who isn't me. Low-shine is good. just hoping a coat or two of something light and non-staining will make it all a bit more uniform to my eye.

Wow! It definitely needs to be tested first then lol! I used it on a colored top with no problem but maybe it reacts differently with protein fibers.
How long did it take for the fur to be black again? Did it at least remove the smell? That is a crazy cute breed!
She didn't go white, she went kind of brown. Their coat isn't really long so it didn't take that long to go bsck to black. It gets most of the smell, and the rest eventually wears off. The Scottie is brindle so it hasn't really shown on him. He's been sprayed in his snout mostly anyway.

I'm not sure which thread to post this on but since you all seem to be very creative I will ask here. I recently acquired a bag that turned out to be fake. It was bought on eBay and after giving the refund, the seller said to keep the bag. So my question is, what do I do with it? I do not want to risk it being out somewhere where someone else can be duped but I hate to throw decent leather away. I seem to remember reading somewhere where someone made tassels or something like that out of an old bag. Any suggestions?

I've kept my fakes. Recently I used a piece of hardware from one. If you do decide to donate it, remove the creed. If I was better at cutting leather, I'd love to make appliques to attach to other bags, like the flowers and butterflies on current Coach.

Quite a while ago I did buy a fake Court bag at a local thrift shop, impulsively. Since it was only $5, I decided to keep it up front and center with my rehab bags to remind myself of what (impulsiveness) I am capable of and to ******************! And be glad my impulsiveness only set me back $5.

Here's a tassel tutorial I saved from an old post, but haven't tried yet. It uses precut fringe but no reason you couldn't DIY, though that is the hardest part as Whatever says.
Let us know if you have any luck!

Thanks all! I love all those ideas. I do remember someone a few months ago posting some charms they had made that were really nice. I think she said she used a cricut if I remember correctly. I don't have one but I'm a teacher and I do have colleagues that own them. I might ask what they think. I also like the idea of using it as a reminder because I share that impulsive trait with you Lake Effect!
The tassel tutorial looks easy once the leather is cut. Maybe if I get really brave I'll try that. Maybe practicing with paper first night help.
I guess with all these ideas I have nothing to lose! Thanks again!

I remember someone here that used to make tassels, was it TwoTimeBags? I followed her directions and made a tassel to add to a couple vintage bags, I just bought a piece of leather as I didn't have any fakes to use at the time, it was very simple actually, cutting, rolling, gluing and finish with EdgeKote.

Nice! How did you cut the strips straight?
