Great idea to show pics! This was for Belicious, but I hope you won't mind ?s... Is every inch of your Court wrinkled - is the extent of wrinkling the key clue?
Looking at my Post Pouch pic, I might suspect it had been polished (it hasn't) since it has wrinkling on the flap and around the turnlock. But it isn't wrinkled all over. Not trying to be a contrary PITA, just trying to understand better. I like black bags and sneaky polish is driving me nuts!

This is very helpful. The bag I strongly suspect seems kinda mirrorred in its shininess and plasticky on its surface.. and yeah I think the conditioners I've put on it didn't soak in or make much difference. I don't really see any wrinkles though. I see wrinkles on plenty of other bags I didn't suspect of shoe polish though! Hmm now I'm suspicious of those...

I'm posting a find here because it needs stitches! Found a large rambler in British tan at less than $60!
Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/252877783652

I'm glad I didn't see this until after it sold or I would've bought it.. then noticed all it's issues later. Just what I don't need: another really beat up old rambler! I have 2 with big issues already.

I almost bought it myself as the last two pics weren't there showing in the original listing! I found out by reading the description and then requested seller to show the place that needed stitching. I passed after seeing that even though my tailor could have fixed very easily.

No it doesn't look wrinkled at all. It only shows wrinkles like that when I bend the leather. The polish doesn't go into the leather and just sits on top of the leather so it doesn't move with the leather. It's another clue besides the extra shininess and plastic feel of the leather that it's been treated with shoe polish.

Okay this is actually very helpful. Now I understand better what I'm looking for. So I checked if there were wrinkles when I bent the leather on a couple of bags I thought were suspect and there wasn't any. So I guess that's a no on the shoe polish there. I guess they're just a shinier, glossier finish. It is interesting how some vintage coach is very smooth leather while others have an almost pebbled texture, even on the same bag.

I read somewhere that often Coach vintage leather was slightly pebbled when it was new and got smoother with age. I've found some vintage bags in excellent condition that had a pebbly texture.

It could be or it could be some kind of paint or dye. It looks too shiny.
Yeah now this is what I'm talking about with a couple of bags I have. One is a similar slim satchel but black and in the mini size that is just soooo shiny. The color is supiciously a perfect unfaded black all over and very shiny.

I wonder with this one if it just could've been very recently conditioned or something since it is also sticky. Perhaps a good buffing might help it?

ladies, hoping you can help. When I dunk vintage bags I tend to get blotchiness/uneven color on the bags after they dry. Even with leather CPR. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong in either the washing or drying process?

What kind of soap are you using? Warm or cold water? Try using something like obenaufs that darkens the color because as it drys it often ends up a more uniform, richer color.

Thanks will try that. I've dunked this last one twice, in dawn with warm water. And tried the second time to put cpr while it was not yet completely dry. For the life of me, I cannot get the beautiful finish that everyone on here
Is able to achieve. I'll try a third dunk.
