Has another washed one of those old Brighton bags with the leather and croc that are partially lined in cotton? I have one that is really misshapen but I think the lining will bleed. Not that it will bleed on anything but I'm afraid it will look waterspotted and faded.

I have a vintage Coach Legacy Crescent bag (E3S-9718) in a light brown shade of burnished leather. Sorry, no pics at the moment. She has a few light scratches and pen marks, but the main issue is a water stain on the back. Any advice on rehabbing burnished leather? It seems thinner and smoother than usual and the bag is completely fabric lined. Should I dunk her?

Hi everyone! I've been reading the posts and you have all inspired me to try a rehab of my own! I found this Court at a thrift store and while it is in pretty good shape, it could use a dunk and conditioning. This is the before and I will post after pictures when it's done. View attachment 3666834
Update! I dunked the Court today and luckily, it only needed one dunk. Here it is drying and I lightly stuffed it right out of the bath to reshape it. I plan to use Leather CPR once it's almost dry to condition it. I think I will need to touch up the piping on the corners with acrylic paint mixed with conditioner, but I will see how it looks after the first round of Leather CPR.

Ugh one of my bathed bag was shoe polished. Another bag has a hardened spot that didn't budge in the bath. I thought I was reducing my rehab pile but now I feel I've made no progress at all. I have no idea what that spot is and it looks cracked. 1492474310242.jpeg

Hi there

I was fortunate to find a vintage tote that is just like the one I remember my mother carrying when I was young. It's in pretty good condition, but there is color loss on the edges that I'd like to restore.

What are the products you'd recommend I use? Also can anyone tell me what year this bag is from?

Thank you so much, really appreciate your help bringing this beauty back to life.

Lovely bag! If the measurements are about 16-1/2" wide x 12" high x 3-1/2" deep it's probably an Envelope Portfolio, style #5190. Vintage 1980s.
It can be bathed following the procedures given in this thread. I'd use Leather CPR and finish with Blackrock Leather'n'Rich. You can add color to the edges with a bit of acrylic paint mixed with conditioner. Enjoy!

You didn't provide measurements but if it is briefcase sized, it is probably an envelope portfolio #5190 from the late 80s. If it were mine, I would wash it and then condition it with Leather CPR when it is almost dry. I'd use Blackrocks Leather n Rich at the end. The details are described in this thread many times.

Yes, it is briefcase sized. Thank you for the product recommendations - will pick those up today, try to wade through the thread for instructions, and will report back with the results once I get started.
