Use a tiny paint brush and apply thin layers, it will be less likely to crack this way.

Mix with conditioner and apply thin coats with a paintbrush? Or apply the paint undiluted?
A little confused as to how to approach this, it's my first time trying to color leather. If I'm not satisfied with the color or result, do I just wipe it off or is there a procedure?

Purchased semi gloss acrylic paint, surprisingly what appears in the bottle to be a very close match. Hoping to give this a whirl tomorrow.

Mix the paint with the conditioner and apply thin coats. If you don't like it you can wipe it off. Usually you can't tell if it matches until it dries. You can clean it off with conditioner or water.

I use a pointilism technique and thin layers. I thin with water and conditioner and sometimes sealent since my conditioner is actually thicker than the paint (leather cpr). I use a fine tip brush to get in the grain and vary the color a bit depending on the spot, location and grain of leather . I test this way to see how close I am to a match.

I tried mixing conditioner with paint today but the conditioner would only deepen the color of the leather. Pretty sure the sealant got removed when I originally tired to clean the spot. I've tried different consistencies of mixing but just couldn't get anything right since the conditioner would just get absorbed by the leather. Any tips or tricks? I've tried removing what I've done, including wiping off and light water and soap. It's just a dark area under the pigment.

I've had that happen. You have to put something on to seal the leather so you can paint over it. You might be able to use Leather cement or acrylic glaze. I'm not sure as I've never used them for this purpose. I have used Leather Refinisher by wood n stuff in this situation.

There are several white legacy vachetta bags on the bay this weekend that need severe attention. Has anyone been able to find a good paint/dye to touch up corners and larger areas that have the leather color resurfacing? I have had minor success with small areas on white bags, but nothing that really improves the white bag remarkably.

Alkemist, does the color show once the conditioner has dried? I'm wondering if you may need to work slower? I'm not sure if I have worked in the situation you have described. Let us know if you find a work through .

So did you read what I did to my Ali? I have also dunked a Mandy like yours but it was in natural, white is a different beast. I would tell you not to expect it to come out perfect, and there is more detail on a Mandy than an Ali so it will be harder to use the refinisher on...but...it's doable. Dunking the White Ali was scarier because it definitely looked worse wet, white colors always do. I wouldn't "scrub" it with anything more rough than a wash cloth, and be careful because white dye really is paint, you don't want to risk rubbing it off. It took at least a couple of days to dry and I live in the desert.

I'm really big on dunking so I may not be the best person to give advice, so take it with a grain of salt! I think in my case it came out better because I felt like it needed to be cleaned.

The other thing to mention is the refinisher will cover the top stitching. After it was completely dry I used some conditioner on it and it gradually rubbed off with time and wear.

My Mandy is one of my favorite bags, at least partially because since it was "preburnished" I don't feel like I have to baby it. But burnished tan leathers are different from burnished white leathers. Good luck and don't hesitate to ask, at this point I think I've rehabbed about every style and color of those '06 Legacy bags.

I just found this post.....just for reference for anyone else, Ledobe used white and vanilla leather refinisher on her Legacy with pleasing results.

This tote had a lot of white powdery substance on it and felt waxy. I attacked it with vinegar, thinking it was mold on top of shoe polish.
But now I'm wondering if the bag was oiled/waxed and the white powder is some kind of residue?? It doesn't smell like shoe polish, I get very little color transfer when I buff, and I'm not getting the super-slick polished feeling after buffing. The bag isn't musty at all.
Does this seem familiar to anyone? I'm stumped!

It might be "bloom."

Hi all,

So, I have a lovely Rogue and the Gun metal hardware is chipping really badly. I would sent the bag back to Coach, but they will just damage it out and I love the bag.

So, I was thinking about various ideas.

Has anyone tried this product - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F87S31I/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER It looks close to the color and well, its better than then the copper. See photo.

Or does anyone else have ideas on how to solve this? It's such lovely bag.

This is sad! Unfortunately, though the product says that it "resists chipping" I would be leery due to the particular hardware and how it will continue to rub against each other. Hard to imagine that not happening again. I would (sadly) try to get my money back.
Maybe try to find a Rogue with brass hardware instead?

Oh, and to answer your original question? No I've not used the product.
