IMG_1862.JPG IMG_1865.JPG IMG_1863.JPG Hello ladies, asking for advice on how to help/improve this cutie
The leather is in excellent condition, no deep scratches or stains, inside also great with no rips or stains that I can see. The worse parts of the bag are the metal ones, lost of color, scratches and on the bottom some verdigris around the feet.
What should I do? I do not feel like I should dunk this one... TIA!

I wouldn't dunk. The brass is plated, not solid. Too much polishing and you will remove the brass. It's likely you have already lost some of the brass and it can't be restored. I'd clean the metal with vinegar. You can spot clean the lining or just wipe it down. You can condition the leather like you normally would.

Thank you so much, yes... I won't dunk it. The liner seems to be excellent as it is, not even need for spot cleaning. I will try the vinegar for the metal and the conditioner for the leather as usual. My oldest bag and the easiest "rehab", LOL

An update on one of my rehabs, (post 11993).
On this bag it looked like something was splattered on the front, because under the flap is OK and the "stains" follow the shape of it. I was advised to dunk it and also use the cornstarch and heat method. Well... sadly nothing worked, but now that the bag dry and I put conditioner on it, it looks more like those are not stains, it is some type of damage, like indentations on the leather.
I am just curious to know what could have done it, some type of mold, perhaps a chemical that burnt it...?
If you have any thoughts, please share and thank you. IMG_1870.JPG

My first thought is mold damage.

My first thought is mold, too, @Catbird9. I had similar spots on my Post Pouch that I rehabbed. Here's a link: Coach Rehab and Rescue Club The spots were still somewhat visible when I first rehabbed it. Now you can't see them at all. They have gone away completely over time. Yours may blend in too with conditioning. I would keep applying conditioner and see if they will blend.

I also agree it is mold damage. I had that happen to a bag. Once it starts to grow, it goes fast and doesn't take long to damage the leather permanently.

These are the bags that I've rehabbed so far and I'm completely hooked! The process of bringing something old and tired back to life is so therapeutic to me. I have one more bag yet to do and two on the way. At this point it's become essential that I start selling some so I can keep doing more. I'd love some advise from anyone who has experience selling online. I already have a Poshmark closet but was thinking I might have more success with ebay. Thoughts?

Your rehabs look so great! I saw bunch of "refurbished" ones on etsy and they look unusually plump and balloon like. I wouldn't buy those even if they're rare.

Wow, quite a nice collection! And I know what you mean about needing to earn extra $ for the rehab habit [emoji846]
I'm not a veteran 'bay seller but I know there is a 'bay thread on tPF full of advice and tips from those who are. Some of the same helpful folks on this and the authentication thread post there, too.

:loveeyes:They're really beautiful!
My thoughts:
Poshmark - seems to be less about vintage bags, more about social networking and recent fashion. Limit of 4 pics. Their 20% commission seems high, but on the other hand shipping is a breeze. Buyers seem to expect sellers to negotiate. Lots of "Followers," but no sales for me.
eBay - I've had good success selling properly ID'd, properly lit and photographed, vintage bags using Buy It Now (Immediate Payment Required). The main advantages I see here are: 12 free photos, discounts on shipping (esp. for Top Rated Sellers), and the unsurpassed exposure you get.
Etsy - was my second choice for selling, but drawbacks included the 5-picture limit, listing fee ($0.20 every 4 months until item sells), and less of a discount on shipping compared to eBay. My items took longer to sell here. One advantage is the lower "final value" fee - 3.5% compared to 10% on eBay.
