The crispy duffle sac came today. What's the longest anyone has left an NYC bag in the bath? I'm guessing I'll need a new strap. The bag itself seems like I could do something with it.

My cat scratch duffle sac was a dried out, ink stained dirty mess when I got it. I'm sure the first time I wash it I left it in the bath at least 45 minutes. I just washed it for (I think) the third time last week. This last time was a short soak. I don't leaving it in the bath for a long time the first time hurt it at all. It is amazing how different it looks now compared to when I got it.

I'm really excited. It's a gorgeous color IRL. I'm not sure that the hang tag is original. I hope it keeps some of the color variation. It reminds me of the old West!

I needed an easy rehab to balance out some of the harder ones I'm working on. I didn't take a before picture, but the bag was in very good shape. I gave it a bath, conditioned, and a couple coats of blackrocks, and it looks like new. The leather is buttery soft. It may be some of the nicest leather of any bag I have.

I had one of those in Mocha. I ended up trading it for a piece of rusty metal! I could never get the leather right. It was one of my first and I think I just over conditioned it.
Yours looks great!!

I have one of these too and I agree, the leather is amazing! Nice and thick and needs barely any TLC.

Knowledgeable ladies, I need your input.

What do you think I could do with this bag (a Gilford I believe), there are spots on the front (not under the flap), like something was splattered all over. I have no clue what they could be, grease, soda, etc.. The only thing I tried "dreaming" it would help, was the Coach Leather cleaner, with no effect at all.
TIA

Have you dunked the bag? If not, I would dunk and see what it looks like after dunking.

I have not done it yet, I was hoping to know if I could try something else first, sometimes dunking stains makes them worse or more permanent. I am not sure if you treat them like grease..?

I usually dunk first. Lots of stains come out via dunking and don't need further treatment. You have no way of knowing what it is, and it may come out easily just by dunking. If there is still a stain, then I try something else.

If you don't want to dunk first, you can try using cornstarch and heat. If you search this thread (and the old thread), you will find posts on using cornstarch.

Hi - would love to hear some opinions on how to clean this bag. Have never worked with a two-toned bag before. 0055-922 is the serial - anyone know the style name?

Looks like a City Bag Spectator, #6790 if it measures about 11.5" x 7.5" x 3.25

I have dunked a Dinky Spectator, it came out fine, no special treatment required.
