y'all had me so hyped about rehabbing vintage Coach bags that i went ahead and bought a couple off eBay lol.

one of them is a flap shoulder bag, i assume it to be the Patricia. i have a question tho... would it be possible to switch the strap from the Patricia with a strap from the Coach Duffel kit? some ebay sellers say that the strap is 1.5" wide, while others say it's 1.25" wide. and the Patricia strap seems to be 1.25" wide. so i kinda have a 50% chance the strap will fit?

anyone here have some insight? :flowers:

I have several Legacy duffles. The strap is slightly wider than 1 1/4 inch, nearly 1 3/8 inches. I don't have a Patricia to try it on. Are you sure you bought a Patricia? There are a few other styles like that. Can you post a link?

I'm no expert! I just always start with the easiest and least invasive treatment. I'm sure the pros can give better suggestions. I didn't want you to be worried all night!

Spray bottle with plain water and slightly mist and use the low heat of a hair dryer while you stuff and reshape.

Good luck!

Your misting idea helped me successfully reshape a non-Coach fabric satchel so thank you!
For my fabric bag, I didn't even use any heat, just stuffed it very snugly and left it to dry. I wouldn't have dared stuff it so tightly if it were leather out of fear of over-stretching. Just wanted to add misting as an option for fabric bags, too, at least those that don't respond to stuffing alone. As always, YMMV so proceed with caution!

Yeah! Glad I could help! I've used that trick several times on some non-Coaches before I knew about dunking. I think I saw my Mom do it years ago is where the idea came from. Sometimes she would hang them in the bathroom for a few days to absorb the moisture and reshape.

It looks great! What kind of dye did you use? Did you dye the entire bag or just the places that needed it?

You're welcome. I think you'll be happy.

Thanks ladies! I used Kiwi leather dye for this one, and i only spot treated it with the dye. Parts of the bag were still very black and it blended together really well!

I also have a confession. Last night, I may have purchased another Court Bag in dark brown [emoji15] Sorry not sorry! [emoji23][emoji23]

No, it appears to be Classic Pouch, also called a Classic Shoulder Bag #9170. Made in New York City.

I don't have a classic pouch in my collection at the moment, but if I remember correctly the strap tapers down to around 1 inch wide at the buckles. On these older bags the buckles were solid brass and there isn't a lot of room in them for a thicker strap or for doubling a strap.

I do have one at hand (in fact I'm carrying it today!) and yes, the strap does taper to about 1" wide at the ends. It's possible to squeeze both skinny ends of the strap into one buckle, but because the strap is wider in the middle, the wider part won't fit through the other buckle to permit doubling the strap.

I mentioned the doubling because I have the same buckles on my shoulder sac, with a straight strap, and although I can fit both ends into one buckle it is so tight I wouldn't recommend it.

I love the tapered shape of the strap on the classic pouch. I wish they did that on the newer bags that were supposedly inspired by this bag.
