As far as re-shaping goes it doesn't look too bad to me. I bet if you stuff it and put it in your smallest bathroom with some steam that will help. Afterward, use it! Using it will help the fibers in the leather go back to normal from movement.
Can't help with denim transfer.

I will have to try that. I just wish the leather wasn't crinkled where it was folded. I was really hoping I could dunk it/ get it wet and make it look new....*sigh* But, you have made me feel better about how it looks. Thank you

I'm no expert! I just always start with the easiest and least invasive treatment. I'm sure the pros can give better suggestions. I didn't want you to be worried all night!

Spray bottle with plain water and slightly mist and use the low heat of a hair dryer while you stuff and reshape.

Good luck!

Lol! How did you know? I'm trying not to think about it but unfortunately I'm still obsessing. I usually think of the hardest thing to do first. I would have never thought about using the spray/mist. It makes sense to mist and dry that way. Thank you so much!

I bought this bag on ebay from ebay valet, and when it arrived it was in a box too small for its size and the bag was folded together causing it to be misshapen. So of course I was none too pleased. Any ideas on reshaping it? The leather is creased now (and it wasn't in the pics in the listing) and I just feel like it's ruined. I'm hoping it can be saved.

Also, if it can be reshaped is there any way to remove color that has rubbed off on the leather? It has a few places where it looks like the purse was rubbed up against blue jeans.

Any ideas and help are greatly appreciated!!!

I have the all leather version of that bag. I don't think you'll be able to remove the creases entirely. You can try steaming it with a steam iron, but don't touch the iron directly to the leather. I would try to clean the leather with vinegar. Sometimes color transfer comes off and sometimes it doesn't. It is easier to get stains off fabric than leather. Clean first before you steam for the creases, as steam could set in stains.

Is this not a good price? Is this not a good rehab? 18 watchers. I NEED to pull the trigger, but I wonder why it's still active?
Did you buy it? It sold. The shipping was pretty high. BTW, it's not from the 60s, more likely from the early 80s. These bags are made like iron. It should be a good rehab as long as you like patina.

I did. (Shame) And yes, the shipping was too much....
My red bag came today and I've been dunking and drying tonight. Guess I was just getting too excited and decided to get another before this one is done.
I do like patina. I hope it doesn't go away with a dunk.

Rehabbing does become addicting! My problem is that I much prefer to work on easy rehabs and won't finish the difficult ones.

Exactly my speed!

I'm guessing I need edge coat for the piping that is splitting?
It wouldn't be my first choice. Edge coat is something Coach didn't use in the early days. It makes a shiny finish, not like the way these bags were made. It is also very thin so I wouldn't expect it to fill in the hole easily. Personally, I would use Leather cement, then paint it with a bit of acrylic paint mixed with conditioner.

You won't believe this, but that dark ink looking mark went away?! Maybe it's the darkened leather? But, I really don't see it anymore after soaking for 2 hours. The red is really dark. More burgundy than the lipstick red I thought it would be.
That's great! But you can't be sure until it is completely dry. If it is wet, it will look darker. They usually take a few days to dry. I had a bag I bought once that was the most beautiful orange; when I washed it, it turned red! Coach made two reds in the old days, one a bright lipstick red, and the other a darker red, but still red.

I like this style of bag. It's so cute! I thought about sending it back, but the inside still smells new and it is in fairly good shape. It would have been great had they not used such a small box. But it was a good deal.

Ok, I feel like I have a plan of attack. I hope I can get some of the stains off. I think some of it is color transfer, but some of it looks like the color on the leather has worn off. It's not bad but it's there. Can I also use Leather CPR and Blackrock on it after using vinegar? And in what order: vinegar, steam, then Leather CPR/Blackrock? I haven't had any experience with cleaning vachetta leather (if it's vachetta).
