Good morning ladies, this is the back side of an off-white satin wristlet that has some stains of unknown origin (I haven't seen it in person yet). They don't look fresh to me, so I have a feeling using a coach fabric cleaner won't do any good. Any ideas and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I just want to do it the most efficient way from the start, because I'm afraid if I don't do it right, the stains will set in permanently. And since it's not a pure white color, I'm hesitant to use anything containing chlorine which can cause discoloration. Sorry, I don't have any better pictures. Thanks a lot in advance!
Don't use chlorine. This is probably polyester, and chlorine won't work and will probably discolor it. I would try Soilove and liquid soap on it. Without knowing what caused the stains, it is just a guess as to which cleaner would work the best. I would probably be afraid to dunk because the leather might bleed onto the fabric. You might be able to test that by wetting the strap and laying it on a paper towel to see if any color comes off.

I would wash both of them in the sink with dishwashing liquid. If the rust colored stain is rust, I don't think it will come off. Maybe it's makeup. I would work on that first before the bath. You could try Soilove.

Thank you Whateve!! You have been very helpful. Abby bag, rehab #1, is just waiting for her hang tag to come in the mail. When it does I'll post a pic. Also bought a very sorry looking '70s NYC big wristlet/purse type thing. It was soooo bad (and smelly)I couldn't even take "before" pictures....I almost threw it out.

So I was catching up on posts. Lots of animal lovers on here!! I have 2 italian greyhounds and a Quaker parakeet. Also, I am a veterinary assistant and I do notice a number of clients carrying coach bags.

You're welcome. I can hardly wait to see your Abby and the wristlet thingy.

Does your parakeet talk? I used to have budgies. One was white and blue and very affectionate. She was super smart for a bird. I've never had another bird that was as tame. I'm afraid to try again.

Hi guys can I get your opinion on this?! I bought this British tan bag and when I opened it, it had light black marks like in the leather.. Is that how some bags come? Or is it a stain? It is only on 3/4 of the front. The following pics are bad quality (taken on my phone) but I hope you get the idea! Thank you

He does talk. He is a rescue. His former owners taught him to say "he's not good" and "can't keep him". He really is a bad boy, but we love him
Taming birds can be tough. It takes lots of time and patients.

I love all animals, but I am only "allowed" to have cats, I hope you ladies you don't mind as the dog owners seem to be the majority ;)

OK.. HELP!!!!!

Inspired by your wonderful rehabs, I decided to try my first one and well, no good
Oh gosh! something I thought it could be simple.

I found this Coach at the local Thrift shop, OK overall but in need of a good cleaning. First I did the canvas that turned out good, a couple stains came out with a bit of Shout.
Then I tackled the leather and first using the Mr Clean magic eraser I made it worse trying to clean a little pen mark, the mark faded a bit but the color around it is gone. Second using Saddle Soap I cleaned the dirt on the corners and they got better, so I tried next a couple stains and now is a mess, look at the results.

Please give me ideas of how to fix it (it possible), if I need to go to the thread of how to clean your Coach, let me know and I will. I posted here because I need to fix it more than to clean it.

I love this summery purse. I've been looking for one!

Pen ink is almost impossible to shift from leather. I've had some success using rubbing alcohol but you need to apply it really carefully just to the ink to dissolve it. I think your mark is under the flap so I wouldn't try to remove any more but would rather cover the mark and the faded area with some matching acrylic craft paint.

For the leather I would wipe it all over again with water to make sure all the soap is rinsed off and then when it is nearly dry I'd condition it all over with Leather Therapy or CPR (if I could get it but I can't), leave it to soak in and then do a second coat. (Don't get the conditioner on the fabric as it will probably stain it).

Hopefully that will even out the marks. It will make it look darker to start with but it should dry back to the lighter colour.

Good luck.

PS I'm a cat lover too but my kids are so allergic we can't keep one.

I never thought I would like cats until my daughter's friend gave her one. We bonded. So I'm a cat lover too.

I rehabbed a purse like this. The tan leather is vachetta so it is extremely hard to get it new looking again. I lightly sanded it which helped a little but not a lot. I'm not sure what you can do other than dye it, and I don't even know if you can dye vachetta.

You've learned the hard way that it is often better to leave ink marks alone. I think you can cover this pretty easily with paint.

This is not an easy purse for your first rehab!
