Beautiful! I've avoided this style of bag because I think it would be inconvenient to have to buckle and unbuckle all the time. Do you just leave it unbuckled, and slide the end into the keeper? I have a lovely Dooney that I never use because of the buckle closure. You can tell the previous owner never left it buckled because there is a dent in the keeper from the prong.

Thanks Whateve. Actually I haven't used it. I ended up selling this one but I do have a mahogany one that I haven't used either and I'm not sure what I'll do with it. Like you, I think the buckling and unbuckling would drive me nuts and I don't think I'd be comfortable just leaving it unbuckled.

loving all the rehabs going on here. I'm learning so much from all the ladies here.

Just wanted to chime in...I'm a dog lover too and currently have FIVE. Three Boston Terriers, an old Lab mix and a French Bulldog. I need to change my avatar to a pic with all the dogs in it. I work in Boston Terrier and French Bulldog Rescue. I foster, transport, do home visits...it's my vocation and I love it.

I had to adopt my last foster, a 10 year old Boston who'd been bought and sold too many times, given away and finally abandoned. Couldn't figure that out...he was the perfect American Gentleman...manners, potty trained, no dog or food aggression. You know the drill. Everybody wants a puppy. Adopters don't know what they're missing.

Back to business...purses. Buying, selling, rehabbing...and on and on. Just wanted to put my two cents in. LOL Oh, the pup in my avatar is Zayda. She turns ten in April and she started it all.

I just discovered Juicy Couture charms! (sorry IMO Coach keychains can't compete with these!!)

Join the club! I have the last one, the dalmation. I've been collecting them for a few months now! I was hoping it would keep me away from purses. There is a thread for this: http://forum.purseblog.com/juicy-couture/juicy-charms-the-addiction-continues-808162.html

Someone just posted about fakes. If you aren't really familiar with the charms, it would be easy to get a fake.

ETA: BTW some of the Juicy keychains are really nice too, if a little big and blingy.

ETA: I have placed something like 6 or 7 orders in the last couple of months. Juicy provides free shipping and free returns on all orders, and they've been having lots of sales. The company is closing all their stores in the US this year.

Thanks for the link and the tip about fakes. I can't see them replacing my purse obsession but a few would be a nice addition to the purses! I checked out the JC site and there's a flat rate of $25 shipping to Australia (free for orders over $500)! I think I'll be restricted to buying from ebay.

Just lovely...I wonder if the wrinkles might just relax a little by wearing her. Hurry and finish the hardware..take her out on the town!

Thanks Joodlz!

Wow, you did an amazing job, the Carlyle looks gorgeous! I agree that the Italian caviar leather bags are not as delicate as we have been told, the rehab looks wonderful!

Thanks Katev! I agree, I think they are tougher than people think.

He does talk. He is a rescue. His former owners taught him to say "he's not good" and "can't keep him". He really is a bad boy, but we love him
Taming birds can be tough. It takes lots of time and patients.

He is just adorable! Kudos to you for rescuing him!

Okay gang, another "patient" checked in last week. She was a steal at $35 shipped. I am trying to come up with her treatment plan, lol. She really is in pretty good shape except for the zipper. I could probably get away without dunking her, but I think I will anyway. My question is - should I dunk her before or after restitching her?. My plan is to undo the stitching along the edge where the zipper has pulled away, knot it off at each edge, add fray check to the edge of the zipper, trim the zipper edge off just a bit so I can get an unfrayed edge back under the piping, then restitch the edge by hand using two needles and a lockstitch, working in the original holes. I'll tie through every five or six holes to keep everything lined up before I undo the original stitching. So, dunk before or dunk after? Your expert opinions are welcome!

Uh oh - that's the bag that sucked me into the black hole of Coach rehab. It's beautiful ! If it were me, I would do the stitching first, then bathe, or whatever you plan to do.

I just found this bag and I need some advice.

I believe it's called a Watermelon Satchel (or tote). It's made in NYC, and therefore pretty old. It's in fairly good condition although the zipper looks fragile. It 's also dirty. Do you recommend dunking one of these? I'm just wondering about the coin purse part. If not, then what should I do? I couldn't pass this up. I got it at Savers for $24.50 plus tax.

I wore mine once, even though it isn't rehabbed yet. I was buckling and unbuckling a lot, but it didn't make me too crazy. I think the trick is to wear it when you don't need to get in and out of the bag a lot! I'll probably continue to use it because I love the style.
P.S. my spilled conditioner didn't fade all the way-- in the bath it will go.

Oh my gosh. Looks like a Bonnie Cashin kiss lock bag to me, although I'm far from an expert. If so great find. Does it have a fabric lining?

Gorgeous! I finished mine a couple weeks ago and posted here on page 67 thread #991.

Mine is pre-creed but doesn't have the leather covering the kiss lock - or maybe it did and it came off. She wasn't dirty but I dunked her and it certainly helped to re-hydrate the leather and made it a bit darker. Followed by 3 coats of Leather Therapy and finished off with Black Rock. Yours is going to be stunning when you're done! Please post here to show us.

Here are some photos from one of my current rehab projects. This one has a long way to go before it is done but I think it's looking a lot better. The tan looks dark from the cleaning and conditioning but will lighten up in a few days. This poor bag has had a rough life. The first photo was posted on eBay, the second one I took right after it arrived. The last one is how it looks now. I feel like I rescued this one! :smile1:

I have a question about another Sheridan. I now have a Charleston which is white. What I don't know is whether it is actually a bright white or more of a winter white. I did a bit of cleaning today. I tried Meltonian neutral cream which cleans (and, yes, can lift color) and leather CPR on it but it still looked a bit grungy. Finally, I carefully tried a magic eraser and it cleaned up instantly. Now I need to cover some scratches but shades of white can be confusing so any advice will be appreciated.
