It was a little scratched and dirty, nothing too exciting. But the dunk really helped and no damage to the lining.

Really gorgeous!

I've had my eye on the Bleecker Tattersall line for a while now. Until I actually saw one in person, I never really "got" how beautiful they are. I'm currently stalking eBay for one, and your post has encouraged me that dunking is an option, if I get one I like that needs a little TLC. Thanks!

Ledobe, the after pictures are fantastic! This Bleecker definitely got a second chance in life. The part I'm mostly concerned about is the lining. I once got a black Legacy wristlet with moderately dirty striped lining; I cleaned the lining with alcohol free baby wipes, successfully getting rid of several stains of unknown origin. Unfortunately, in the areas where the wet lining was too close to the leather, the black dye bled, leaving me very disappointed in the results. Have you ever had a similar problem with one of those?

Here is a link to the wristlet. I said in the original post that some of the green showed in the white stripes, but I had this out the other day and I didn't notice it-so I'm not sure if I was just being really picky or not. However, I can see how black would be more difficult to keep from bleeding.

I've also dunked a couple of the duffles, an ink and the magenta. The magenta bled A LOT but I pulled it out and rinsed it the lining does not look pink at all. I ran the ink through the washer on gentle in a pillow case and it was a total non-event, just hung it to dry and conditioned it.

It's a great collection. I really shouldn't have gotten another bag when I've been doing so well with my ban though.

Thank you for sharing your experience, and that juniper wristlet is very pretty! It looks like the problem with my black wristlet was slightly different; once the leather got wet from the fabric, it just kept bleeding, very little but still - until it got completely dry. And note I didn't wash the bag, only cleaned the fabric with baby wipes - that's what got the leather wet. The lining can be pulled out with no problem, but no matter how far you pull it out, it's still there, attached to the leather. Probably it's just the problem with the black leather, I don't know.

Or the problem could be with baby wipes. I usually use soap and water or a mild spray cleaner, and I haven't had this problem with Legacy or Bleeckers. I haven't dunked any of mine that I recall, but I wash the linings pretty thoroughly. I know I've used alcohol and acetone on them as well without a problem.

It's bigger than I expected, close to the size of my medium Candace. It's hard to find them cheap! This really didn't have any major issues and just needed freshening. The dunk really helped. I really didn't need another brown bag though.

I have had my eyes open for one for a long time too, but I never find them cheap. This was about $90 shipped, but a great price for this bag.
That helps talk me down. I don't need a bag as big as Candace. I hardly ever carry my large bags, such as haircalf Candace and Legacy bucket, anymore. I've reduced what I carry so it would be lost on the bottom of these bags. I'm down to two Bleecker large flaps and I love them both. They are a great size for me. I can carry the rust one without it scratching but the burgundy one always needs conditioning after every use to hide the scratches.

Maybe you're right about the baby wipes, whateve, but I'm scared to death to even think about getting that wristlet wet. Our maybe you're careful enough to leave the leather completely dry and avoided this problem in general?

I don't rehab that many lined black bags, and most of them have lining that can be pulled out. I don't worry about splashing the leather too much. Usually if you wipe it off immediately, it doesn't waterspot. I'm pretty determined to get the lining clean so I often am reckless with the water.

Now that I think about it, I think I may have dunked my Bleecker because the acetone I was using on the ink stained lining soaked through.

How do you know if a bag has been treated with something to make it look better, like that wood and stuff etc? I have bag but the bag feels weird and overly stiff, not like leather. It feels stiff and not like leather. There's definitely something amiss here. I'll have to upload photos when I get home.

If the leather feels stiff or looks too glossy when it is not patent, it could be it was treated with something, but the Wood and Stuff Leather Refinish is made to restore the color, I had done it on straps and they are not stiff or look different that the way they are supposed to be. The time I made the mistake of mixing paint with conditioner to apply on a leather bag, yes... it was pretty stiff after it dried.

If shoe polish or paint, may be rubbing in an inconspicuous place will tell you. Once I got a bag totally covered with shoe polish, even part of the hardware... no doubt there.

Waiting for authentication on the proper forum, but here I need to ask where could I find a replacement for the magnetic snap in this vintage Coach, (don't know name yet).

I have seen snaps on Ebay, but if I can find one I can use with the one that it is in the bag already would be great, I only need the top part, everything else is there. I think long ago Coach offered replacements, but I imagine no longer for these bags.

EDITED to add that it has been authenticated as a Fulton bag, style 9898. Similar to the Mulberry so I imagine the snap was the pull up type?

Here's a listing on eBay for a Fulton that shows the snap head. The description says it's a magnetic snap, but that may not be correct.

If it were mine, I would contact Coach Repair ([email protected]) and ask them first.

I went through this with a snap on a wallet. I never did find a replacement, unfortunately.

Good luck...it's a beautiful bag!
