I know others have washed Sheridans. I have several and I've been afraid to wash them. But if I recall correctly, I did wash one and it came out fine. Now I have one with a hole in the piping. I'm thinking about trying puffy fabric paint to fix it. What do you think?
I've never had to fix a bag where the leather has worn through to the piping. I've haven't been brave enough yet to buy a bag that needs that much work. The puffy paint sounds like its worth trying. I recall a post by a rehabber - ledobe or beccabaglady maybe - who first sewed over exposed piping then covered it with craft paint. My 'Leatherique crack filler' has arrived so I'm about to use that on the pin holes in the Twin Clutch. I'll post here after I've used it. That may be another option to cover piping?

Good luck.

I was the one who sewed it then covered it with paint. It was my first rehab. The edges of my bag were severely worn through and damaged. I also had no clue what I was doing. At another rehabbers suggestion, I recently bought Liquitex Acrylic Gel Medium. I have a bag where the piping is split, and I'm going to use it to attempt to fix this one. I'm interested in the crack filler. If it works, I have a bag with deep scratches (puncture wounds, really) that may be an option for.

Does anyone remember her?

After a bath, freshly polished hardware and about 5 applications of CPR:

Almost there! Did not have time to run to the tack shop today, hopefully tomorrow. I do have one more thing to share. My husband had an unused pack of cloth diapers and a giant roll of white T-shirt jersey (found them when they were cleaning out his Grandfather's garage - I think he used to use them to polish his race cars). I have been using the diapers to stuff the bags while they're drying - they are very absorbent and a good size for rolling and stuffing. I cut some slip pocket size pieces of the jersey and slid those in the pockets, then I change them out with dry ones.

What a gorgeous rehab! I love her! The diapers and the roll of T-shirt jersey both sound like great ideas. I'm rehabbing a non-Coach full size rollerbag briefcase right now, and I could've made use of both of those last night when I was trying to get that badboy stuffed.

Actually I didn't buy it knowing it was worn as much as it was. The seller said it was in "great shape." I was afraid I would be stuck with the cost to send it back so I agreed to take a partial refund. I had used ebay bucks to pay for part of it as well, and I didn't want to worry about that either. I'm still not sure I didn't make a mistake.

I thought of the puff paint because I used it successfully on the inside of a Fendi coin purse where the leather lining was torn. All my puff paint is dried up so I'll look around to see if I have any medium before I make a trip to the craft store.

GORGEOUS!!! I'm working on a putty-colored City Bag that was nearly a goner...had lots of unknown splatters on front and back. I'm in the CPR stage for the next couple of days. I'll post all the radical details when I'm done...stay tuned :)

What a great job! I love the red classic leatherware bags. I have yet to get one.

Have you ever dunked a Sheridan, Joodlz? I posted a pic at thread #933

http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-clubhouse/coach-rehab-and-rescue-club-833400-67.html

The lining is dirty but it can be pulled out so I could wash that but not sure if I should dunk the whole bag sans straps. There is a small dark mark on the front and the top is a bit darker and rubbed smooth. What would you do if she was yours?

I've never even seen a Sheridan IRL, so I have no direct experience. Having said that, if I had one, I'd probably go for it...straps and all!

Wow, this is amazing! Did it really change color that much?

For you my dear, I took it downstairs and put it under the light where I took the first pic so it would be a good comparison. You had me curious!

I think it was all the CPR that made the difference. She was soooo dry. A compelling reason for us to use moisturizer on ourselves every night, lol! On a side note, when she was in the bath the water only got a slight bit of color in it - looked like very watered down orange Koolaid. This was my first red bag, so I have nothing to compare it to.

Here's the Carlyle. I am tickled pink with the disappearance of the dents in the flap. There isn't even the slightest evidence of them ever being there!

I am also thrilled with how the female part of the turnlock came out with the sanding. I left the male portion undone so that you could see the difference. A lovely brushed effect that will remain even if I have to polish it again!

Here are her wrinkles - much better! I have a little brown spot that I need to touch up, but I think she came out great! Just need to finish her hardware, and she's ready to go out on the town. :)

Wow, that is amazing! It looks more orange than most Coach reds. Is your Craftsman toolbox orange? I bought a bag I thought was orange until I gave it a bath. After that, it was red. I can't believe that is your first red bag! I'm drawn to Coach red like a moth to a flame.

Amazing! I've avoided buying any Madisons that aren't in perfect condition because I didn't know they could be fixed.

Absolutely amazing how the dents came out! Gorgeous!

I think it's the flourescent light that is giving it that more orange tint. The toolbox is red. Under the regular light it is definitely more red. I would describe it more as a tomato red than a deep red, kwim? I would definitely tackle another Madison after this, in fact, I think I have a Pierre that is pretty rough in the basement. I'll have to dig thru the pile. I think heavy wear on the corners would be the only thing that might be a little though. I fear dents no more!!
