If anyone that has Blackrocks is around, would you mind posting a pic of the ingredients on the jar? I am too impatient to wait for an order, so I am going to the tack shop tomorrow to see if they have something similar. Thanks!!

They don't have ingredients on the jar but it smells petroleum based. I don't think there is anything comparable. Skidmore's Leather Cream is nice too. It has beeswax in it but doesn't have that darkening effect. These conditioners vary from other conditioners due to the wax in them, I think.

Ditto what Whateve posted. I couldn't get a nice pic but the label says is genuine Carnuba Wax.

I couldn't get a pic of the jar label but here's a link

I like this product a lot.

Whateve, you piqued my curiosity about Black Rock being a petroleum based was and I went searching and guess what...it's not. It's plant based. And I've been spelling the main ingredient wrong. lol

Carnauba wax - from the leaves of the Carnauba palm, Copernica cerifera

Interesting! It sure smells though!

Thanks everyone! Unfortunately, I think the leather on the Madisons is going to act like paper - once it's folded you can unfold it, but the crease is still there, know what I mean? It was so dry, it was actually making a crinkling noise when I was trying to open her up a little. The strap was pretty stiff too. I see lots of Leather CPR and a custom made storage cushion in her future!

Yeah, I agree about the leather...I rehabbed a Madison Copley last July. Details are here:

And I agree about lots of Leather CPR!

Thanks you two! That is exactly what I needed to know!

Does anyone remember her?

After a bath, freshly polished hardware and about 5 applications of CPR:

Almost there! Did not have time to run to the tack shop today, hopefully tomorrow. I do have one more thing to share. My husband had an unused pack of cloth diapers and a giant roll of white T-shirt jersey (found them when they were cleaning out his Grandfather's garage - I think he used to use them to polish his race cars). I have been using the diapers to stuff the bags while they're drying - they are very absorbent and a good size for rolling and stuffing. I cut some slip pocket size pieces of the jersey and slid those in the pockets, then I change them out with dry ones.

Some of you ladies really work miracles with your rehab projects, kudos to you! ;)

I thought about asking this question here (please direct me to the proper thread if not OK), I got a great deal on a Poppy leather pushlock satchel, because it was missing the long strap.

I called Coach and asked if I could purchase a replacement, but I was told no, not possible, so here is the question to you. How/where do you find the straps if you need to replace them in your rescue bags? Is there any place where you can buy them new/used/exchange or something?

I know there is always Ebay, but I mean a more specialized place. Thank you for your time.

What a great job! I love the red classic leatherware bags. I have yet to get one.

Have you ever dunked a Sheridan, Joodlz? I posted a pic at thread #933

The lining is dirty but it can be pulled out so I could wash that but not sure if I should dunk the whole bag sans straps. There is a small dark mark on the front and the top is a bit darker and rubbed smooth. What would you do if she was yours?

That is interesting. I am glad it isn't petroleum based though it does have a similar texture to petroleum jelly - aka Vaseline.

I know others have washed Sheridans. I have several and I've been afraid to wash them. But if I recall correctly, I did wash one and it came out fine. Now I have one with a hole in the piping. I'm thinking about trying puffy fabric paint to fix it. What do you think?

Wow, this is amazing! Did it really change color that much?

Stunning! You did a great job. I love red bags.

Thanks ZSP!

Thanks whateve! The firsr pic was under a flourescent light, so it is a tad lighter, but she really did darken up quite a bit after her bath and the CPR - I thought I was going to have to hit the corners with some paint/conditioner, but they are like new now! I knew she was pretty dry when I tossed her in, because there were some large areas that IMMEDIATELY soaked up the water and got saturated - I'm talking like 5 seconds!
ETA: just as a reference, my dining room walls are really that dark. :)
