It's beautiful!

Thanks!

Very nice! I love how shiny clean it looks, especially the interior.

Did you use anything besides detergent on the verdigris? I always have trouble with that, even with straight vinegar on a q-tip and rubbing away at it. Yours came out very well.

I didn't do anything special. I just concentrated on cleaning everything when I was dunking it, and didn't really notice until it was dry and I was conditioning the leather that the verdigris was mostly gone. I really didn't expect it to go away, was pleased it turned out as well as it did.

Now I have one more decision to make. This bag didn't really have the usual sealant issues. The sealant was beginning to crack in spots, but it looked more to me like it was just cracking from age with storage rather than the usual cracking around the metal strap attachments. I could remove what is beginning to crack and try to replace it before it gets worse. I just have a feeling I'd be wasting my time. Wow, I think I just talked myself out if it.

Ooh thanks for sharing. And really wonder why one of us didn't think of this before. Since patent grabs color so easily, why wouldn't this work?

I am also very grateful that this link was posted when I asked what to do with my wallet. Since my very first failure with cleaning a patent bag, I run away from all patent but now may be things will change. ;)

I wanted to share my results with just the glossy paint. I won't need to dye it, looks better although is just a try, my resources are very limited in my hometown, so the shade of blue is not what I need. Knowing that it works, next time I go to Michaels I will get the right shade and do it again. For now the biggest green spot is less noticeable.

Before and after pictures.

Wow! What a transformation into a stunning beautiful bag, congrats! :smile1:

You give me some encouragement to try to salvage a bag I also got, that it is totally gross and was listed as like new, seller kept saying that it was used only twice, (may be cleaning the sewer). Ebay sided with me on the return/refund dispute with no problem, the seller refunded my money, but didn't want the bag back (she is gone from Ebay now). So I have something so gross to look at, that I considered trashing it, but I feel bad... I might try to clean it when I have some time.

You should post pix at least, maybe we can make suggestions. I'm a pretty aggressive rehabber, I find that sometimes doing a halfway attempt just sets stains, rather than just going for it and crossing your fingers and hoping you don't ruin it. I've had some bags that were supposed to be delicate come out beautifully.

Help!! I gave my daughter a brand new Coach Legacy Pinnacle Harper Satchel in Fawn. She just texted me in a tizzy. She went to a party yesterday and had a fruit tray on her lap in the car and some of the juice from the tray went into her lap and on her purse. She is freaking out! She tried to wipe it off but she says it's discoloured the leather kind of bluish. Is there anyway to fix this. I am terrified of dunking this purse. The leather seems so different than the older purses I have dunked. Any help would be appreciated. PS. I'm a little upset she had it out anyway, because it was raining.:nono::nono:

do you have any pix? I was hoping someone else would jump in because I'm having trouble picturing the leather on this style.

Sure, I will... specially because also has a rip more like a cut on the fabric (it's a patch bag), that I have no clue how to fix.

I will come back with pictures, when I have more time, thanks! :smile1:

Thanks whateve! This bag (link) is so cute but the last pic... eeek!
Wow, that is damaged! This is an older bag so the way they processed it is probably different than from what they do now. It would be similar to rehabbing an Italian Madison. Most of these that I've seen on ebay look scratched up. I bet it would be fun to try rehabbing it if you can get it cheap enough. Where the coating has completely worn away, it looks like conditioner would soak in, but I think what this bag really needs is a new coating. Something like Leather Refinisher and maybe you could add in the pattern with a toothpick or a needle. The lining is pig suede, which is a bit more delicate than regular unlined bags, and I don't know if the black would bleed onto it if you dunked it. I cleaned a pig suede lining with Lincoln EZ cleaner and it even removed ink.

<- still a newbie
I barely have the hang of dunking and conditioning. My next "big" step is doing the acrylic and conditioner mixture on piping that the color has worn away on. ;) I suspect painting designs with leather refinisher is a bit ambitious for my limited ability.

Could I get some opinions please? I bought this British Tan City bag from ebay (link). When it arrived, there were stains and ink spots that were described in the listing, but weren't apparent in the pictures. I assumed the seller mentioned them in the listing just for full disclosure but that they were faint or not very bad. There were also two small holes that were not described. The seller has offered to take back the bag though they've made it clear they are not happy since they described the defects and they say the pictures clearly show the defects. I disagree. Am I crazy? I looked at the pictures before I contacted them and I didn't see any ink spots or stains in the pictures. I looked again just now and I STILL don't see them. I've attached my own pictures so you can compare her pictures with mine. I'm not trying to give her a hard time or anything but I'm upset because the pictures don't really reflect what the bag really looks like. What do you think?
