I think this might be color loss too. Here's a blog post I found where the gal dyed a tan patent Louis Vuitton wallet black. Might help. Your wallet is really cute!(Mods please delete if this kind of link isn't permitted)

Thanks for that link. It's amazing what you learn around here!

On her LV patent leather wallet, it seems like rubbing it with the Mr Clean Magic Eraser and diluted acetone created that final shine. Interesting idea to try sometime.

So interesting! I bookmarked this just in case. I would wear gloves. I dyed some snow boots last year and actually read the caution label on the dye and it's bad stuff.

The seller didn't mention this at all in her listing, saying it's in good condition. Even though there is a photo, that is damage, not general wear, so you definitely have cause to return it if you decide to.

I have been following a fellow collectors rehab of a musette that has similar damage- deeper cracking all over. She is using leather cement and toothpicks or needles to slide leather glue under each little flap. Tedious work, but totally worth it. I think you could do the same, and you'd have a good bag, especially with the wallet, for a great price. And, like Cyndy said, it's a dark bag so it shouldn't show too terribly after conditioning. Good Luck!

Thanks whateve Cyndy and Katherine! Yea I'm a sucker for a good deal. What leather cement would you recommend? Do you have any suggestions for tutorials? Thanks so much!

I have Fiebing's Leathercraft cement. Just use a toothpick to put the cement under each flap of leather and push it down.

I got my jar of Black Rock today and dove right in. I like the feel of it! I put it on, let it sit for a while, wiped with a paper towel, and then buffed with microfiber towel.

I'm not sure I can see that much of a difference on the Coach Classic Pouch yet, except for a slight evening-out of the color tones. Maybe after it's had a chance to absorb more, it will feel softer and more supple. I've loaded her up to carry around for a while.

I also massaged some of the Black Rock onto a Dooney & Bourke bridle leather tack bag and I can definitely see a difference there. There's more shine, depth and evening-out of color on that hard leather.

Before and After pics of both below. The difference is more noticeable in person.

The leather on the classic pouch isn't as soft as on some other vintage bags so you might not see that much of a difference in texture, but in evening out color and making it glow, it makes a big difference. Maybe they used different leather for more structured bags, or maybe all those I've come into contact with have dried out more. I had one that was as hard as a rock. It even looked like petrified wood!

I think I need to go to Legacy rehab rehab.

To continue my legacy rehab story. I found this for$75 shipped with not very good pic. These always catch my eye in whiskey but here I am, trying to clear my closet out, but couldn't resist this.

Again, one of my filthiest bags ever, but it actually didn't look like it had been carried much, just stored in a dirty dusty garage or attic. I don't think you can really tell how dirty it was from the before pix. I didn't take a pic of the entire bag, just the dirtiest parts.

The leather here had verdigris from being folded under the turn lock. You can also see the grime that was all over the leather from storage.

The bag was probably stored unzipped. Inside was just dusty and grimy.

But these pix don't come close to showing how dirty it was.

And it turned out to be a super easy rehab. I used a lot of soap, started with tide and soilove, really scrubbed the lining and went over the exterior with a wash cloth that I squirted with dish soap, then rinsed and rinsed and rinsed again.

It dried fast. Conditioned with black rocks and obenaufs.

Anyway, for a bag I considered returning because I thought the rehab would be too risky, it came out amazing with no real extra work.

Here is where the verdigris was. Can't really see it irl

Interior came out great, and I found 11 cents in the sink when I was done!

Very nice! I love how shiny clean it looks, especially the interior.

Did you use anything besides detergent on the verdigris? I always have trouble with that, even with straight vinegar on a q-tip and rubbing away at it. Yours came out very well.

Help!! I gave my daughter a brand new Coach Legacy Pinnacle Harper Satchel in Fawn. She just texted me in a tizzy. She went to a party yesterday and had a fruit tray on her lap in the car and some of the juice from the tray went into her lap and on her purse. She is freaking out! She tried to wipe it off but she says it's discoloured the leather kind of bluish. Is there anyway to fix this. I am terrified of dunking this purse. The leather seems so different than the older purses I have dunked. Any help would be appreciated. PS. I'm a little upset she had it out anyway, because it was raining.:nono::nono:

Wow! What a transformation into a stunning beautiful bag, congrats! :smile1:

You give me some encouragement to try to salvage a bag I also got, that it is totally gross and was listed as like new, seller kept saying that it was used only twice, (may be cleaning the sewer). Ebay sided with me on the return/refund dispute with no problem, the seller refunded my money, but didn't want the bag back (she is gone from Ebay now). So I have something so gross to look at, that I considered trashing it, but I feel bad... I might try to clean it when I have some time.

Learning lesson... I hope you get the experts to give you the advice you need. I wish I knew what to tell you. May be depending on the type of fruit? I do not know if acidic juice could make a different stain that just sweet? Hoping for the best!
