I wish I had a sample in yellow so I could do my sunflower duffle first, since it is such a small area. If it works well, maybe I should get some for my fuchsia duffle.

ETA: do you have a problem with it drying before you get the next section done? Do you wipe it with water afterward? It is supposed to reduce the shine.

It dries really fast. I try to do a section at a time, but I'm not really organized about it. I can't think why one section drying would be a problem? It still blends ok. I've never used water over it but it's generally not that shiny when I've used it.

It's just been really easy for me to use,

hi, has anyone wash grainy leather? if so, how did it came out? and what did you use to clean etc? thanks!!!
I recieved my Sheridan Savannah Hobo 4222 today and just bathed it in a sink of Dawn and luke warm water. It is pebbled and has a faille jacguard lining and bridle leather trim. The bag was in very good condition but the seller said she used conditioner on it and not knowing what may have been used I decided to bathe it. This was my fist Sheridan deep clean an it looks fantastic. There was evidence that someone had restitched some of the lining so I opened it up about 6 inches so I could dry the inside better and stuff with towels to shape. Dried the lining with my hair dryer. The brass is really nice on this line and cleaned up nicely. I did notice that a little spot on the trim on the front was probably painted so will have to deal with that when its dry. I will post pictures when it dries, but I wouldn't be afraid to dunk apebbled bag.

When I went grey a couple years ago I wanted some grey Coach bags too. They're a lot harder to find than black or brown. I bought this Slim Duffle from Etsy for $12. I love this charcoal color, and I knew I would love the bag because I had bought a bag in this same style new years ago in chocolate. The base is oval and lies flat against your body, and the strap is nice and long. Anyway, this bag had a weird brown sheen on it. I washed it and found the color on a part of the bottom piping was completely gone. I think it may have been treated with shoe polish. I'm not sure. Anyway, I mixed a little acrylic paint and dabbed it sparingly on the piping, then applied several coats of Lexol and Blackrocks. There is a scratch on the outside pocket. It's still visible, but I think the conditioning has minimized it as much as possible.
That is so pretty! I thought when someone advertized a grey vintage Coach it was just a black bag that was faded! Whhat years did they make grey? Would love to find one to compliment my white/grey pixie.

Thank you! I'm not sure when they were made. I bought this same style bag new in chocolate brown in the late 90s or early 00s. I now have three grey bags: this cross body, a tote, and a small over the shoulder hobo.

When searching you have to search on "grey", "gray", and "charcoal". I wonder if there are any other synonyms for grey that I'm missing? You also have to be careful because some people do think faded black equals grey! I think if you see one listed as grey but it has brass hardware, it may actually be black.

Quite often the sellers will say it is faded black when it really is gray, or they will say it is navy. Every gray bag I've bought I didn't know was gray until I gave it a bath. Last summer I found 3 slim satchels at a Goodwill. I really wanted the tan one but it had ink marks so I settled for the black. It was a big surprise when it turned out to be gray.

Navy is kind of like that too, especially the bags from the 70s and 80s. It was such a dark navy that you can't tell it is navy without putting it next to a black bag.

Any bag made before around 1997 is going to have brass hardware so you can't really use that as a test.

I think there may have been two different grays in the 80s. One of the original ten colors is flannel grey, which is what my bags are. I have a color sample card from 1986 that shows a grey, which looks lighter than flannel grey, but it could really be the same color and they just changed the name.

I bought a navy basic bag in the early 80s that looks black, but isn't. This cross body definitely isn't from the 80s. I think it's late 90s or early 00s. I bought a new bag the same style in that time frame, probably in the 00s. You're right, on the really vintage ones they just used brass hardware. However, in newer styles, especially this charcoal color, they used silver hardware. I don't know the official name of this color, but I just love it. If you've seen grey Willis bags, this one is that same color. Charcoal with a slight touch of warmth. I would get the Willis (with silver hardware), but they're too expensive, and I already have two, in black and British Tan.

Yes, the style of your bag was made in the late 90s and early 2000s. I found one in a weird brown that had purple overtones. I may have seen gray once on ebay. They must not have made very many in that color.

Wow, thanks, that was great info. Another fun Coach bag to serch for! Grey, dang. Come to think of it, I seem to remember having a grey and an olive green small hobo way back when you could find some at TJMax.
