No. It's been in my closet since the end of November when I switched out to my Copley. I wiped it down last night with a damp cloth and got the white speckles off. There are a couple of sizable black marks left, one on the side and one on the bottom. They look kinda like smudge streaking across a bit ... maybe an inch long?
Please post a pic of the black marks.

You haven't done anything to the bag to get it dirty and you live in a humid environment, so mold was the first thing to come to mind. One time I washed a bag, then we had a power failure. It was the middle of the summer with 100+ temperatures. I left the bag stuffed with a towel and we stayed at a hotel for the night. When I returned the following day, the bag was covered with mold.

I don't know what you mean by grainy leather. Do you mean pebbled? Do you mean the current cross-grain?

yes, pebbled leather, light color like white or pink.

I don't notice a smell aside from the normal leather smell. If it is mold, how do you remove it?

ETA: I just bought this tres cute handmade Paris-themed bag charm to go on it cos the bag's so plain (the hangtag is missing). I think it'll look fab against the British Tan. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Macaron-Eif...599?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d315df3a7
That's adorable! I love the macarons!

Vinegar and sunlight kill mold. I don't remember mine smelling like mold either. I never could be sure that it wasn't there before the bath and I just didn't notice it. It didn't take long for it to pit the surface of the leather, even though we were gone less than 24 hours. My bag was black so I don't know if there were any black marks but I could see white spots.

You can rehab pebbled leather just like you can any other leather. The conditioners you use might be different. You'll want to avoid any really thick conditioners which might leave residue in the nooks and crannies. If the bag is lined and it is dark, you'll have to take that into consideration because the lining could bleed and stain the leather.

i read a lot of ladies recommend hand wash, but can i machine wash instead on pebbled leather? because the lining is pretty dirty with a lot of stains and discoloration. what conditioners would you recommend? i read through most posts but unsure what to buy. thanks!

i search through the thread for steps on how to use crayons to cover spots, peeling etc for pebbled/grainy leather, but no luck. can i use the crayon to cover any peeling, rubbed edges/corners? does it last? is there a specific brand of crayons or any brand will do? so basically you guys just melt the crayon with iron (or lighter?) on the side and rub it on a leather bag right? what do you use: a paint brush, toothbrush or something to rub the crayon on the bag or just use your fingers (with gloves of course)? any help is really appreciated! thanks!

The white spots are gone. All that's left are the black marks, which I'm not sure would even show up in a pic. I shall try, though. I had to get a new cell phone recently so hopefully I can get a decent shot or two.

I found out later that the bag charm is actually an inspired version of the Laduree macaron charm (which at the time I didn't even know existed). They don't have brown ones, though, like this one so it's all good.

Hello! I need advice from the expert ladies rehabbers, with my most sincere thanks in advance, you are so patient and helpful all the time.

A friend sold me her Poppy Groovy Metallic bag in gunmetal, beautiful and at a price I could not pass, but of course not perfect.

This bag has a few pen marks on the metallic leather, both front and back. You can not really tell from the distance, but you can up close. I knew about the marks, I still wanted the bag but if there is a way to remove it or diminished it, I would feel much better.

I have searched the thread before asking, I have read comments of do not rub the metallic leather or will lose the finish, I also read about perhaps using metallic paint.... What do you recommend I do?

I think I would use paint. I would use it very sparingly. Try it on a very small spot first. Before that you can try to see if it would wipe off with a mild non-bleach spray cleaner. I use one of those that comes from the dollar store that you dilute, like Awesome, Perfect Floral, etc.; it's the same stuff I use to wipe down my counters. Once I got a patent leather Groovy with pen marks and they miraculously wiped off!

There is a thread by Katev where she fixed her metallic Zoe with paint. http://forum.purseblog.com/coach/us...mouflage-damaged-metallic-leather-722169.html

Is it like this one?

You might need to mix paints to get something that sparkly. You may also have to add a gloss varnish over the top.

I've got a NYC Rambler that needs a new turn lock, and Coach is sending one out today. They mentioned that any Coach store could replace it while I wait. I've never done it - is it tricky or can I just handle it myself?

Wow, it's interesting that they mentioned that any Coach store could do it. I had one replaced once but my SA gave me the impression that it was unusual to have it done at the store. She did it because she happened to have one there. I had another one that also needed some stitching so she didn't fix that one at all. I can't believe that SAs are trained to do it. I've never done it. I have one still in a package but I can't get the nerve to try. I don't think it is that difficult. You just have to bend the prongs.

Thanks for your reply Whateve! You give me hope :smile1:
Yes, my purse is just like the one in the link. I will go to a Dollar Store and find one of those cleaners to try first. The acrylic paint I guess will be last option. I have tried the paint on another bags (according to the instructions from this thread) with very good results, but I feel apprehensive with metallic, is not only to match the color, but the shine, etc...
