That was my first thought too!I wonder if that is dye from the lining.
So I washed the lining and it's fine, water ran clear....

Cute bag! Someone had a great tip for these bags. It involves using a matching crayon and heat to melt it on.Hi coach expert:
I recently purchased a vintage bag. I believe it is coach madison line which was made in italy with serial number 4403. But there are white spots on the red calf leather. I was wondering if there is there anything way to get rid of these and recover the leather. I recently only have apple conditioner. Is there anything I can do to rehab the purse? Thank you so much.

I think I used white vinegar straight. I put it in a little bowl, then dipped the magic eraser in it. It lightened up most spots. For dunking, I used the same soap and warm water I use for other bags.
Two Time, great rehab. You are the rehab queen!
That is beautiful!!! What a great color too.
That looks great. Red is hard to rehab. It was a crummy day in CN's bag-land, so here's a positive post. The 2 pictures at the top are from its previous owner's sales listing, and the 2 at the bottom are my after pictures. It's not 100% perfect, but I think it's an improvement.

Hello Everyone
I've got myself in a rehabbing pickle, I hope someone can help.
I bought a 1996 Sonoma 4907 in Maize. It looked OK when I got it, had a few very light marks & a slight hint of dirt, so I thought it wouldn't hurt to give it a bath. Ah, if only I could hit the redo button at this point.
I had just started swishing it in a bath with ivory snow, when new light grayish-blue marks started appearing everywhere. I freaked out, took it out of the bath, rinsed well, blotted and let it dry for a day.
The marks were still there, many more than before the bath! I tried treating it with Leather therapy & then Blackrock, but no improvement. It looks dirty now, and also has a light bluish gray cast. The leather does look worn in some spots.
It's hard to see in the attached pictures but maybe they will help.
This is my second rehab.
I can't decide what to do next - would appreciate any ideas!
Thank you!!

Thanks for the insights. This has been another learning experience! That looks great. Red is hard to rehab.
The lighter coloured bags are challenging. As the conditioner soaks in the colour may revert more to what it was. Because it's lined you can't see what the back of the leather looks like. There might be marks that are now showing through. I had a similar thing happen to a suede bag (not Coach). Rehabbing can be hit-and-miss at times and the Sonomas - both full grain and nubuc - don't respond the same as the leatherware bags.
This is one I'd put away for a couple weeks and then have another look. It may need to dry out a bit. JMO.Thanks for the insights. This has been another learning experience!
Will think twice before buying light colored Sonoma bags tho...
FYI, I opened up the lining (where it's hand sewn a the bottom) and looked around.
Looks fine, the color goes all the way through & is consistent, no stains.
So I have to decide - do I try really soaking it this time, not a quick dip?
Or use it as is - looking like it needs a good cleaning.
If I soak it and it works I will be sure to post!
That makes sense - thanks, I'll do that! This is one I'd put away for a couple weeks and then have another look. It may need to dry out a bit. JMO.
