I didn't plan on washing this as it's pretty clean and the shape is good. When you say everywhere, I'm assuming you mean the trim as well? Also, how long do you leave the Blackrock on before buffing? Do you apply as per the directions? I've never used this product before.
Yes, I mean everywhere. You put the Blackrocks on and immediately wipe it off. Use it sparingly, do a section at a time, and wipe each section with a paper towel before moving to another section. Then you can do an all-over buffing.

Black Rock is awesome stuff! You definitely need it for all the other bags you're rehabbing. After the first time you've used it, you won't feel like a bag is finished properly unless you have applied it!

It's been a couple of days, and the mottling isn't completely gone:

Should I redunk it this weekend? Will cool or warm water be most beneficial? Do I use Dawn again? I think the problem was that I overconditioned it on its second conditioning. Do I sparingly condition it a third time after dunking? Thanks rehabbers! This is turning out to be an interesting hobby, err, I mean scientific experiment.

Wow I think it looks beautiful as it is. I'm not sure what you mean by mottling. I have this bag too but in red. Mine has some weird black spots but after washing it twice and trying to get them off I give up. I am okay with a certain amount of imperfections in my vintage bags...

I don't think you need to dunk again. You could try Obenanauf's. It may even out the colour. It will probably make it darker.

Ok. Maybe I'm being too much of a perfectionist. But the color was more even before dunking and conditioning, which made me wonder if something was wrong. Thanks ladies! :smile1:

It looks really dry. Do you have Obenauf's? It's great for really dry leather. I apply it after a couple coats of Leather Therapy with a day in between coat. Apply it by massaging in with your fingers, then if you can, leave it in the sun or warm it gently with a hair dryer. Leave for 24 hours and buff it and decide if it needs another coat. You do need to need to buff it a lot. Finish with Black Rock.

How long should I leave it in the sun for? Also, it is possible for it to get too hot? It's 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32 degrees Celsius) outside right now where I live.

I don't think it is possible for it to get too hot. I've used a hair dryer on mine. I usually leave it in the sun most of the day. The longer you leave it, the more it will absorb. It will only absorb as much as it can hold.

I have a bag that is showing dark areas along the edges after deep conditioning. I've got it in the sun now. If it doesn't fade soon, I'm thinking about trying the cornstarch/heat treatment for oil stains.

Here is the listing:http://m.ebay.com/itm/271821844386

And in the listing it says there is 'normal wear, fraying, etc etc"

I received it today and I feel like there is a little more wear than 'normal'. I took this picture of the area that is more than 'frayed'

I wouldn't even know how to go about making sure this fraying doesn't get worse. Do any of you maybe feel like this is more than ' normal'

I recently purchased this Lime Lunchbox, which is a little dingy looking. Any tips on how to perhaps brighten it up? I already know that I'm going to have to touch up the piping with an acrylic paint/conditioner mixture as all of the piping on the bag is basically brown. For the rest of the bag though, will my usual technique of a Leather Therapy followed by Blackrock be alright? Or will that darken the color even more? I'm a little unsure of what products to use on a bag this color, as I've only rehabbed various shades of brown and black before. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
