There are some red ink stains, what appears to be a giant greasy spot on the bottom, and some remnants of sticky stuff on the bottom. How would I wash it?
The ink won't wash out. If it is a lot of ink, it could bleed and spread if you wash it. Usually it isn't a good idea to work too hard on ink because anything that might affect it will lighten the leather around it.

You can use cornstarch + heat for the grease stain - you cover it with cornstarch, put a paper towel over it, then hold a hot iron over it - I've never done it so I don't exactly how to do it. However, the heat could help set the ink, making it even more impossible to remove.

The sticky stuff might wash out in the bath or you might have to use something like goo gone or goof off, which might also leave a stain so you should probably test it some place.

It would be much easier to help you if you could post pictures.

Thank you, whateve. It might just have been a bad idea to let her use it. Perhaps when I've been on here long enough I can post pics of it.

The cornstarch iron trick worked for me. Just put enough on it to cover the stain, paper towel, then iron on low heat. The heat will loosen the grease and the paper towel And cornstarch will absorb it. You might have to repeat it a few times. I did it on suede and it didn't completely get rid of it but it was a LOT better.

Good evening..

I bought this. Just got a note from the seller saying that there is dark spotting on the back of the bag, thinks they are water spots, and do i still want the bag?

Curiouser and curiouser. Did see the dark markings on one side. What do you think might be going on?

If they are water spots they should come out when you wash it. If you do wash it, make sure you pull out the lining and hang it until it stops dripping or it could bleed all over the lining.

They don't look like water spots to me. They look black and they aren't as shiny as the rest of the bag. Wouldn't water spots be the same color as the leather, just darker? I don't know if it would wash out. That is the front of the bag. The part with the seam is the back.

ETA: By the way, this isn't the large Bleecker, it is the small.

ETA2: Look at the dark marks on this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-Burgu...657?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27fc16e9f1 These don't look as black.

I finally got Miss Alexandra home last night, I must say it is one of the cleanest craigslist bags I have bought (it always seem like people sell on my Craig's list because the bag is too dirty to use?). I don't know what the bag is supposed to look like sheen wise but it was very shinny and when I cleaned it I got some dingy "film" off it and then conditioned it with the conditioner I have at home (just Kiwi, I plan on ordering something else just not sure yet what...) and it is now more of a matte type finish, but it now smells like leather. Before it smelt like someone else.

I am not sure if this is just what the bag should look like, the nature of the kiwi conditioner or....?

I also used the kiwi on my new to me Gigi and the handles soaked it up like crazy and now the leather looks black rather then the brown tinge they where sporting.

Beautiful bag! I have this style in suede. I've never seen the leather version IRL so I don't know what the leather should look like. I don't think Kiwi is the best conditioner, especially for Gigi.

What is the best method to use to touch up color loss? I've been told to use acrylic paint mixed with conditioner, Eco Flow dye mixed with conditioner, Meltonian and Obenauf's oil. Is one of these methods better than the other, or does it just come down to a matter of personal preference?

I have attached photos of the City Bag from the early 1990s that I am currently rehabbing where there is color loss that I would like to touch up. The color loss has occurred along the crease of the flap. ImageUploadedByPurseForum1427413631.818012.jpgImageUploadedByPurseForum1427413649.877143.jpg

Have you had that bag authenticated? Just curious because coach leather is usually dyed all the way through.

I agree there is something off, that looks yellow. Was the bag redyed?
