My husband has an unconscious (subconscious?) vendetta against my metallic mini Borough. Somehow, he always accidentally drops it or knocks it on the floor every single time I bring it out. It's really odd, as he likes it when I carry metallic bags, and he doesn't do that to any of my other bags. So, all of the poor thing's corners are silver instead of gold. Does anyone know of anything I can do to restore her corners' golden glow? Will any type of sheer paint stick to the finish, or has anyone found a marker color that matches that color? I might even be desperate enough to try a paint pen! Thank you for any assistance!

Sharpie marker, ( shaped, sized like magic markers ) in metallic gold. There's also a metallic silver, and a bronze!

Hth..

I used a paint pen to fix a Poppy glam. I'm not sure it was real leather though. I'd start with acrylic paint mixed with conditioner. They make metallics.

I have a Coach 15137 that is a vinyl or pvc. It was stored next to another purse that started to get a sticky residue. It is now on my Coach purse and black spots. Do you have any idea how I can safely clean it and remove the spots?
Thanks
Do you know what caused the sticky residue? Could the black spots be mold?

You can wipe your purse with baby wipes, soap (I use dishwashing liquid) and water, or a non-bleach spray cleaner. Since it is vinyl or pvc, it is nearly indestructible. You don't want to use acetone or alcohol because they might remove the sheen. Often if this type of material gets stained, the stain gets underneath the plasticky coating and there isn't anything you can do.

The black spots are from the other (Miche) purse that turned sticky I thin.

I can't believe it!!! I'm FINALLY winning the battle against the mold in the saddlery bag I've been working on since early December. Here's the back of the bag when I first started on it:

And here's after a final wipedown with vinegar and before applying blackrocks:

I don't even remember everything I've done: Multiple baths with soap and diluted bleach, couple rounds of leather rejuvenator, leather therapy and more vinegar wipedowns than I can count. So glad to FINALLY almost be done with this bag!!

Your patience and persistence has paid off. Great job.

Thanks :smile1:

Thanks :smile1: I'm so torn over whether to flip the bag or not now, lol! Now that I've got such a history with this bag it's hard to consider selling it...that and the intense fear of the mold coming back yet again when its in its new home, lol!
Keep it and use it for a while then decide. Leather Therapy claims to inhibit mould growth so see it as a scientific experiment. If it hasn't grown back in 6 months you've proved it does!

I don't see why there should be any urgency in selling any rehabbed bag. Since they are used anyway, why don't you enjoy carrying them first?

Over on the facebook group somebody found a maroon bleecker with tattersall lining that was pink tinted. One can only assume what happened, but I'm guessing it involves dunking it in water.

oh, as usual, delayed response. I can say that when I dunked the magenta I made it a point to pull out the lining while it dried, maybe that made a difference. I try to do that whenever possible with lined bags anyway, just to play it safe. I actually used a clippy pants hanger and clipped the lining and hung it in the show. There was a pinkish residue in the tub the next morning where it had dripped a little.

I did the same with my magenta Duffle. It bled like anything in the bath even in cold water. I pulled out the lining and let it drip dry, pegged by the lining to the clothes line, then while it was still damp I stuffed it to re-shape and finish drying.

Do you think I should wash my bottle green Bleecker duffle? I don't know how much it would help the wrinkling of this bag.
