Can you point me to any before & after photos of lighter colored bags? Mom's bags were well-used, to say the least. No one would want them online.

(Regarding piping...when the corner piping on my Marc Jacobs bag wore off, Nordstrom sent it to a place in the LA area that did flawless work. Wish I could remember the name... Pricey but very good.)

I found the name for Mom's oldest bag. It's the Suspender bag. It's gorgeous! But the piping isn't merely worn...it's coming totally apart. It needs new piping all the way around.

I'll get a photo the next time I visit her. I'd love to fix it up for her to use...or show her how to fix it.

If you post pictures of the piping, we can advise you. If it is completely destroyed, you probably will have to replace the leather, but if it just has some small worn areas, we can repair those usually.

You'd be surprised at how much interest there would be your mom's bags regardless of the condition. It sounds like you might have a suspender bag that is extremely rare and on many people's wish list.

There are photos throughout this thread of rehabs, many on lighter colored bags. We don't try to get them perfect; there is a certain amount of patina that is going to be there no matter how much you work on it.

Thanks, Whateve. That's how I discovered the name...someone in a post I was reading mentioned that she hoped to find the Suspender bag, so I googled, and there it was. Such a beautiful bag. (I do think the piping will need a full replacement.)

I'm scrolling through now to find what I can. While also scanning etsy and ebay for bargains!

I absolutely agree about not wanting perfection. I'm just wondering how the lighter colors look after a good rehabbing.

Yoo guys! It's a Christmas freaking miracle! I had pretty much resigned myself to living with the stains, but since I had cornstarch on hand, I'd figured I'd give @two.time.bags suggestion a try!

IRL they are much less obvious than in the photo. So wish I'd tried that first! I'll look at it again in the daylight to see if I need to do a bit more, but really happy so far!

Wow, that's amazing! Now I'm wondering which bags I should try it on. Maybe I've been living with stains all this time that could have been easily removed.

Hello Ladies,

I have a Coach Borough bag in washed chambray in pebbled leather that I purchased recently from eBay that has corner wear on several of the corners. I have read on previous posts about using acrylic paint mixed with Lexol to take care of the corner wear.

I don't have Lexol, but I do have Leather CPR cleaner/conditioner. Would that be allright to mix with the acrylic paint? Or do I need to buy the Lexol? Also how do you apply the mixture to the bag once you are ready to apply? Some type of brush? Or something else?

Thanks.

Someone rehabbed the bag that matches this recently. I think you can't scrub the metallic without removing the finish. The suede can put up with the most scrubbing. You don't put conditioner on suede. You brush it when it is nearly dry.
I rehabbed the big bag. I paid 12.50 for it and it was filthy so I had nothing to lose. I was going to take the tassel off but it wouldn't come off so I dunked the whole thing in warm soapy water using Dawn. I scrubbed both the leather and the suede with one of those brushes doctors use when they prepare for surgery but went a little easier on the metallic leather. Rinsed it copiously then I let it dry a bit but didn't like the stains still on the suede so I dunked it again, leaving it in the water for longer and scrubbed the suede again. Stuffed it again and used Leather CPR on the leather. I still want to get a small suede brush to brush the bottom of the bag. There's still the tiniest, almost un-noticeable ink stain on the top lightest triangle of ivory leather on one side but I am pretty happy with it. I have Blackrocks but haven't used it yet. I'm not sure I will. I didn't dunk the strap. I can't believe how soft and pliable the suede tassel is after being submerged in water. I'm going to have fun wearing this purse in the summer. It just glows in the sunshine.
