I think that was a good choose-- there are other crescent bags out there. Did Coach send you the turn lock and was there a charge? I need one for an old City Bag. I keep thinking I'll find a really sad bag at a thrift store that is beyond repair and really cheap that will have a turn lock I can use, but no luck yet. BTW what do you think of this snow again today :noggin:
Yeah, Coach is sending the turnlock for free so if anything I'll have one in hand by the end of the week. They just ask for the serial number and your mailing info. (I don't know why they bothered with the serial, I told them it was before they had style numbers on it. Oh well.)
So done with the snow. I hope this is the last of it!! At least the rain's supposed to wash it all away
I think kitchen paper might be parchment paper?

I was thinking parchment or waxed paper.

Google says paper towels.

Thank you Flushpuppy

Thank you! Forgive me but what is kitchen paper? I've even spent nearly a year backpacking and traveling in Australia and New Zealand but admittedly spent very little of that time in kitchen :smile1:

Yep paper towels. 2 rolls for $2 Australia Day special! When were you down under Miss B?

I didn't really know too much about the properties of neatsfoot oil until I started doing research after I received the bag. Apparently the seller used Fieblings 100% neatsfoot oil and there's mixed reviews on it. Some people say recent batches have had a very petroleum or oil smell to it and some people mention no smell at all.

I broke down and dumped it in a hot soapy bath inkspots and all (which thankfully didn't bleed) and she's drying now. Good news is it already smells much, much better. :smile1:
That's great. Sorry, I didn't answer your question about the ink spots. I was going to ask for a pic but it sounds like you've had success.

It's funny how we all speak the same language but use different words for the same thing! I had a French Canadian friend who tried to buy soap in France and no one knew what she was talking about. They use completely different words.

I'd love to go to Australia someday but I don't think either of us can handle such a long plane ride!

We're fairly Amercanised here but there a lot of words that have different meanings that are evidence of our British heritage.

We have different terms or meanings for a range of American words like closet, trash, fanny, sweater, ***, diaper, biscuit. 'Purse' means women's wallet to most older English people.

It is a long plane ride from your side of the US. You could go the other way around the world and have lots of stop overs including calling in to see Sheri and Joodlz in Florida, then Europe, India, Singapore.

Well, here is my first rehab where I actually needed to fix something. The piping needed to be filled on most of the corners. Not perfect, but decent enough.

The first photo is from the original auction listing. I was surprised when I received a brown slim satchel. ;)

Buffing is my new knitting. Hypnotic and fit for TV.

It looks great! It doesn't even look like the same bag. The bag in the listing looked like it was camel colored with black stains on the bottom.

I think the word purse was originally meant for something like a coin purse. Both men and women carried them in a pocket. What we call a purse is really a handbag but since most of my bags are shoulder bags I don't think they should be called handbags. Old people here call them pocketbooks. My husband and I use different words for things even though we were both raised in California. His parents were from Oklahoma and Arkansas, and my father was from New York. He says house shoes, I say slippers. He says pillow slip, I say pillow case.

I wouldn't mind stopping off in India and Thailand on my way. I've already been to Florida but we didn't take the detour to make it down to Joodlz's thrift stores. I was tempted but I figured they would have been cleaned out since Joodlz seems to find something every other day!

Great job! What did you use to repair the piping?

Isn't is cool when you get something that wasn't what you were expecting in a good way?

I used Aleens leather glue on one side and Eco-Flow on the other. The Feibings is back ordered. The Aleens was a little easier to apply, I thought. I also used it on the edge of the inside pocket. Then I mixed some acrylic paint with Leather CPR. It still wasn't quite right, so I did a bit more Aleens with a little paint. Then Blackrocks. The piping is REALLY dry. Still buffing that but it's getting there.

Great job! I've never tried to tackle split piping-- you make me want to be more brave:tup:
