Thanks everyone. And yes, usually light colored bags give me fits but this one was cheap enough that I didn't have much to lose. This makes up for the Brighton white patent leather bag I had to throw away after trying everything under the kitchen sink!

I am glad someone has success with light colored bags, for some reason I am drawn to them, vintage and modern, and when I need to rehab I ask myself... why? LOL

I got a new 2 me Large Zoe in black leather. It looked pretty good, no wear or obvious dryness, but I had just received some Obenauf's that I wanted to try on my black bags. I was surprised to see the Zoe absorb the Obenauf's oil immediately. So i applied more--same thing. The oil soaked in as if I was watering the garden. After about 3 applications, I stopped for fear that the oil would soak clean through to the satin lining! It did not do this on my Carly or an Ergo hobo that i tried it on. Anyone have this experience with Obenauf's oil? Should I keep applying until it no longer soaks in?

I am not one of the experts so wait for their opinion. I have Obenauf's that I use very sparingly on my bags, first because I don't like the smell, second because needs a lot of buffing, and when not in need (CPR and Blackrocks enough), then I save it for very needy bags.

After a long hiatus rehabbing I am back at it. This is a lonely, sad bag nobody seemed to want and I got it. I didn't dunk, just a bit of conditioner and touch up paint conditioner combo on the corners, and look at the difference! :smile1:

Wow, it looks wonderful! I've always thought this style was so cute! It's probably too small for me though.

Thanks! It is small, I barely fit my wallet, phone, lip balm, keys and although a pocket on the back and under the flap, you can only put papers there. I normally use crossbody style purses, because I like my hands free, but the newer ones have more space for sure.

Thanks, I have used the CPR and Blackrocks on other bags, but had heard good things about Obenaufs on dark bags and usually the bags I get from ebay are dry as a bone. I find that CPR only lasts a day or two and then looks dry again, while Blackrocks is tricky for me to get it perfect, not sticky.

The Obenaufs left no residue on Zoe, though I just buffed a bit with a soft cloth and it shined up. :shrugs:

Wow! One of those cute little bags I like, I guess I missed it ;)

I have a question for those of you that know what to do with ALL Coach purses. I have a Peyton snake skin crossbody, that I love and have used a lot. I have used the Coach cleaner for spots and worked, but now it got to a point that needs a good cleaning in and out and I would put it in the washer, but I do not know if the "scales" will fall off. A few are gone already from use around the top and close to the strap, I do not want to have a Peyton with cow skin, LOL

I will welcome any input!

I wouldn't put it in the washer. If the scales have worn off from use, I bet you'd lose more with the agitation of a washer. Can you post a picture? By Peyton, do you mean the recent MFF Peyton?

I have no idea. I've never put anything on my Zoe. Now you've got me curious to try it on mine. I've only just started using Obenauf's. Usually I have to heat the bags up to get it to absorb but I've only tried it on vintage glove tanned leather.

Is anyone having issues with blackrocks leaving a residue on bags? All of a sudden its leaving a kind of foggy residue on my bags despite buffing them with a shoe shine brush and again with paper towels to be sure I got everything. It comes off with Leather CPR, but it's becoming a bit of a pain to have to do that to all my bags.

I don't have this problem. Are you using too much?

Here's a recent rehab success story I thought I'd share. This is a Kristin Leather Satchel that I almost missed. I was at the GW and had already picked through everything. I was standing in a long line waiting to check out, eyes wandering... and there she was-- hanging on a back peg all squished and dirty. She was so flat and wrinkled and dirty I feel my before pics aren't as bad as she really was. And bonus-- found her hangtag stuffed in a pocket so just had to replace the ball chain. First I used a cuticle brush with straight Dawn on the muddy spots, then directly into a warm bath. Once she was stuffed and dried I attacked the coffee stains (!) with a Tide bleach pen, then slowly worked her all over with a rag and Leather Honey cleaner (properly diluted) to get the residual grunge out of the wrinkles and creases. Really had to go over the handles twice with the LH cleaner. Then 2 coats of Leather CPR followed by a final coating of Bick 4 conditioner... and voila! There are still some minor little scuffs and a little wear on the bottom corners but I really didn't think she would clean up so good :D
Wow, she's gorgeous. It doesn't look like the same bag. What happened to the coffee stains when you gave her a bath? Did they disappear at all?

Thanks! And no, the coffee stains didn't come off in the bath. Honestly there were so many bigger and uglier spots that I hadn't noticed the coffee spots until after-- they were smaller drip or splatter spots. I suppose I could have worked on them in the bath but it's harder to see the small stuff with the bubbles :search: When it was dry I had a better sense of what was left to deal with. I think I tried alcohol first but that can take the finish off of the leather. I've had good luck with the Leather Honey cleaner but it's a lot of rubbing with a white rag. I bought it on a whim (and a suggestion from Amazon) when I bought the conditioner.

I've had problems with residue but not a foggy one, just sticky. Even when I'm very conservative with how much I use. I think in my case it is often a temp issue-- I now put bags in front of the fireplace and rotate every so often. Even then sometimes they still feel a bit tacky. Sometimes I then give them a wipe down with Bick 4 and that usually does it.
