I don't know if the apple cleaner is moisturizing it at all. I wouldn't worry too much. I've had bags sit without anything and they recovered when I bathed them again.

Re-dunk about a day before you expect the CPR to arrive. The leather needs to be slightly damp, not wet, when you apply the conditioner.
Okay, I'm just going to wait for the CPR and redunk. The handles are a little dry so I might just spray them down and wrap it in a towel. Thanks.

Pretty colour! Great job. You can't really notice the marks. They add to the character.

I'm still working on mine. It was soooo dry and has a huge ink spot on the inside pocket.

Looks beautiful! It's normal for color to continue to come off onto the towel. I have a brush. It really helps buffing, but you can use a cloth too.

Thanks! I assume when it's buffed properly, it will lose that slightly tacky feeling?

So here it is after one coat of Blackrocks. Just done, so it is darker than when it's dry. I think I need to get a shoe shine brush to buff it out. Also, is orange color still supposed to be coming off on the towels when I rub/buff it? It did that in the water during its bath too. Thanks.

I forgot to mention this photo. Inside the bag.

Any idea of what caused the stains? Does it look like grease? I'd spray it with a de-greasing laundry spray, leave for 5 mins then dunk in very warm water and dish liquid and rub with a terry towelling face washer or similar, rinse, stuff and dry. See if that makes a difference. I'd do anything to avoid dyeing it, so if that doesn't work and you really can't live with the spatters you could try acetone. Keep us posted as you go!

Re the black and white bag.To test if it's colourfast, wet a cloth and rub the piping and strap and see if any colour comes off. It might be all right to dunk if you use cool water and do it quickly. Is it a Coach bag?

Before getting the bag I already had asked the seller, she said she got the bag from someone else and had no clue what caused the stains. I guess I will try a couple things before giving it a bath and hope for the best. I will share updates. :smile1:

The white bag is not Coach, a friend gave it to me and it's in great condition, no stains, etc.. just that when she stored it, it got squished and now is out of shape, I thought the easiest way would be to get it all wet and reshape, but the black concerned me. I did what you said and a bit black came out, so instead I might just put a damp towel inside for awhile.

Thank you.

Do you have a steamer? I've used a steamer to get out dents and reshape when I didn't want to or couldn't dunk.

I just posted on the authentication thread, that I got old paperwork with a couple bags, in case someone wants/needs scans for their archives.
One thing they have is the Care and cleaning instructions, where they say do not attempt to clean grease or ink, because it will be worse. So I guess the good Coach people, didn't know that in the future there will be a clever and resilient group of ladies, that get to "care" for their bags in very innovative ways. ;)

Now I have a question for you, that for sure know more about this site than me. I was just wondering if it would be OK or is against some rule, to try to exchange hang tags.
I know that Coach would replace them if missing, but with the vintage bags they send brass or silver. I just got a bag with extra tags that I do not need, and I would love to get one that matches better a vintage brown, instead of asking for brass.

Anyway... let me know, I do not want to get in trouble, and thank you all in advance.

Hey all,
Does anyone have any tips on reconditioning the leather on a 2002 ergo hobo? Its the black hobo zip from 2002, a thinner type of leather. I bought this bag from the FP store when it was new, and it has seen better days. I was not knowledgeable about taking care of the leather back then. :shame:. I've tried giving it a bath and applying leather CPR, and it just gets dry again after a couple days. Ashy, sort of. Tried blackrocks but it seemed to make it sort of gummy and dull. Any ideas?

You could try Obenauf's and lots of buffing. Black Rock shouldn't make it dull unless you're applying too much. You only need a very small amount. Massage it is well and buff and buff and buff.

Saphir http://amzn.to/1uQL1YO and Collini http://amzn.to/1oc0f4M are some of the best leather conditioners on the market. I have used them regularly with great results.

Coach sent me a brass hang tag and a mahogany leather hangtag last year. We have only a few stores and outlets here and none in my state, and I called them all and they couldn't help me, so I emailed Coach in Jacksonville and they sent them. I was really surprised as the year before they sent me only brass. They indicated that they wouldn't be able to send me any more in the future, but I might try again. I don't think two hangtags a year is greedy!
