I used Kiwi polish, it is easy to get your hands on (sold at pharmacies and food stores) or you can buy online (comes in a tin and is a bit waxy). They have a select color variety. My friend uses Meltonian for her shoes and likes that. I believe it would work with that polish and there are wayyyyyy more color selections you can buy it on Amazon.

If you go this route let the bag dry then when you think its dry wipe it off. You don't want color transfer. I did that once... Ruined a pair of jeans...
Which is why you never use shoe polish on a bag. It's for shoes!

Here's a happy update on my little pink suede wristlet. I put it in a bath of Rit navy blue die and voila! Aubergine! There are still a few faint spots but minimal (especially compared to before!). The lining went a little darker, mostly on the CC part of the pattern, but I think it does a nice job of keeping the strap and tag integrated in the color scheme.

Two.time.bags you are very ambitious with that wave bag! It is such a beautiful bag and yours seems pretty nice even in the before pics. I saw one on Ebay several months go-- I seem to recall it being in much worse condition--and was tempted. I think I had just read a post by Joodles and/or you about a suede rehab that had great results. I definitely have more optimism towards suede as a result but I'm glad I didn't take that on!
Oh wow. That looks great. I love the colour. I haven't re-dyed suede. I've just done touch ups with leather dye but your results, and whateve's, with RIT have git me thinking about a couple of other projects :thinkin:

My Wave Bag is coming along OK . I wasn't expecting the metallic leather to bleed. I was thinking that the pink would bleed into the lighter suede but it didn't. I didn't even notice the other until it had nearly dried. I then scrubbed it with alcohol which has lightened it a bit but I'll have to do it again.

I'n going away for a week so it will have to wait until I get back, along with a few other half finished bags.

It is impossible not to look! What has been seen can't be unseen. :yucky:
I'm pretty sure it isn't the same as the wave bag. The Glam was made several years later. My wave bag's metallic leather has a very soft feel, but not suede like my silver Poppy cinch. (My wave bag might be different from Two.time.bags' as mine is the blue one made of different materials including smooth leather and jacquard.) I think my daughter has the same glam in gold. I don't have it in my possession, so I can't look at it, but I agree with Two.time.bags that conditioner probably won't help. I bet it came with a care card that said not to use Coach conditioning and cleaning products. I don't think the previous owner had the word "clean" in her vocabulary!

Sorry! Didn't mean to make anyone ill Two.Time and WhatEve! I have a very weak stomach, so a lot of things make me gag, and the inside of this bag was definitely one of them.

I don't have to have new or pristine, but I do have to have CLEAN!!! :p

OK Rehab gang I need some help and suggestions. I need to know if there is a way to rehab a Coach Poppy Glam Silver Metallic Tote? It isn't a bag I can chunk into the washing machine, I know. Has anyone ever tried to do anything with these?

I cannot deal with the disgusting interior without gagging. Don't look WhatEve!!!

I pulled the interior out and it is soaking in my bathroom sink as we speak. I have my nail brush and my Dawn standing by. BUT, I want the exterior clean as well. The metallic finish is not like others I have had. The metallic finish seems to be bonded to the leather if that makes any sense and I don't know what to do. Soooooo......this is my conundrum.

Help me ladies!!!

Go to the dollar store or Rite Aid in the dollar section and pick up some LA Awesome cleaner. Pull the lining out and use it full strength with a nail brush. Here is a bag that I used it on that had coffee stains all over it:

I'm surprised it was the metallic the bled, although I was not brave enough to dunk that wave lol. It will look great when you are done.:smile1:

I may have some of that under the sink. I know I have some Mean Green. I'll go check. Great suggestion. If not I will get some. Thanks ShannonMarie!

It looks amazing!! The lining looks great too as pink and purple so now the pink strap works even better.

I was too. I remember you warning me against the pink bleeding. I actually sprinkled salt on the pink suede, thinking it might 'set' the dye, but I didn't do it on the metallic leather. Not sure if the salt had anything to do with the pink not bleeding. Thanks for the vote of confidence. If I can't clean off the dye it will become my new gym bag! :D:
