Nice bag. As the canvas is not too bad at all you could wash it by hand though it would probably be OK in the washer. The newer leather doesn't have the dye all the way though like the classic leather so you will probably need to touch it up as the conditioner alone is unlikely to bring the colour back.
That's what I figured about the leather after working with (and shelving) a white Penelope with worn places on it. The canvas is in decent shape, but could definitely use some washing. I haven't checked, but I'm hoping the lining is able to be pulled out. I think this is one that's liable to bleed onto the pink lining.

They are now mine! Now how do I freshen up the little turnlock bag? Guess the Watermelon bag is a serious dunker, right?

I have a habit of not taking before picks and just charging ahead with rehabs. This Lula's Legacy is no exception. Funny thing is I swore it was British tan before I started... now I'm wondering if it is something darker? Checked my saved pdf of color tags from one of Hyacinth's posts and Mahogany is the only darker brown I see, at least up to the mid 90's. Any thoughts? Also the serial number has nearly disappeared from the inside pocket! I can still just make out the 9952 but not the first three digits :(

For comparison, here's my Lula's Legacy in British Tan.

and the creed patch

I love this bag...it's so easy to carry.

Brasso works wonders, is really inexpensive and a bottle lasts forever. I found it at Home Depot for $3 among their cleaning supplies. Love that stuff, but you have to be VERY careful with it, since it can make leather cloudy looking.

This might help! The years are a bit off, but I figure they're pretty close and don't change much.

Nice finds. I nearly bid on the watermelon but two is enough! I'd dunk both. Remove the turn lock from the Dinky. It's the easiest way to clean the brass and clean the verdigris from the leather. Before you dunk, mix vinegar with some baking soda.and scrub the leather with a toothbrush. That will remove most if not all the green 'pond scum' as some here call it! Brasso and very fine steel wool on the turn lock. Looking forward to seeing the after shots.

It really is easier to remove the turn locks especially if you're lacking patience like me and get frustrated with fiddly bits. You can also clean the back of the turn lock and underneath which can be quite yucky with verdigris.

It looks like cocoa but that was just used for Lightweights. It probably is Mahogany. It's gorgeous whatever it is! Nice job.

Thanks for all the tips. Fiddly bits drive me nuts! I have no fear of dunking, but a little afraid to remove the brass turn locks.
When they are done, will share the results.

To dunk or not to dunk?

Ok I bought this cute little red coin purse. When I got it it looks dirtier than in the pics!:( grr.. Should I dunk it? What worries me is there is black leather inside and I don't want that to bleed on the red leather! Also should I clean the brass? Or would that make it silver? Do you think this could benefit from a bath or not? Please let me know! Thank you!!
