Two brown bathed beauties… ‘80s NYC Madison Satchel in Tabac and ‘98 US Anderson in British Tan.

I’ll post a few before pic next.

I wasn’t impressed with the Anderson in the catalog (a little boring to me), but IRL with a little patina it’s actually very pretty. Great bag for charms. And satchels in all their forms are my absolute fave. The leather and striations on this one are gorgeous. 🤩

After cleanup the hangtag that came on the Madison was BT not Tabac — so if anyone stumbles on an old one-sided tabac tag, would love a headsup!

Yay! Nice work. What kind of crossbody strap and attachment are you planning? I hope you'll share more pics as the project is moving along.
This is still far, far (far!) from perfect, but I'm happy with the progress. I think I'm going to crossbody it, so I removed the handles. The toothpick method for the huge ink stains worked pretty well.

I am becoming a total ho for glue-in NYC burgundy color & leather quality. It really sends me.
I would also like to know! Lots of bags I’d like to change straps/handles on

Update on non-vintage 2011 Light Grey w/ Silver pearlized and perforated Brooke bag:

After a couple of months waiting in queue with the ‘Secret Sachets’ (coffee grounds, salt and lavender in cut-up tights), odor was gone and it was time to get her clean.

I started with Lexol wipes, then pulled out the (very) dirty coral lining and gently scrubbed lining only with clear Dawn. But she still looked a bit dingy inside and out. So for 24.99 I decided into the bath she goes in the name of science!

And I’m happy to report that a brief bath in warm clear Dawn, with a very gentle sponge clean and a vigorous lining scrub, left her sparkly clean and soft with no noticeable damage to finish. I’ve done 2 coats of Cadillac Select (bc I am low on CPR) 24 hours apart, while stuffed with towels. So far so good!

I’ll post pics when she’s dry, and I may need some recommendations on paint to touch ups some tiny areas of wear on edges of folds…
Looking forward to seeing the results! See many of the laser cut bags online and curious to see how they rehab
