Looking good! Yeah, it’s strong stuff — a def departure from my usual nontoxic approach to life. If it’s useful, I ultimately found that wiping with foaming leather cleaner after a good brushing off, and letting leather rest for a day in between every couple rounds, seemed to work pretty well. Like most products, it does seem to morph a little as it rests, at least on the camel bag. But you’ll find your own methods I know! Thanks for keeping us posted.
I'm starting on the "lighter" stained side first! One at a time. If the degreaser doesn't work out, I have this, or this:

Not bag related but I wanted to rant to people who would understand.

I bought a pair of sweatpants from Aerie online. I loved them so much I bought another pair on clearance. When they arrived, they smelled like they had been soaked in men's cologne! I sprayed them all over with febreze, hung them outside for hours, washed once with detergent, ran through an extra rinse with vinegar, washed again with detergent and ammonia, washed again with detergent, Febreze laundry odor elminator and ammonia. I think there is still a faint odor but I'm going to let them dry and see how bad it is, maybe hang it outside again.

If it is this hard to get rid of odors from fabric, getting them out of leather is nearly impossible.

Coach Zoe woven leather

As odd as it may seem to some, I don't have a brown bag (I have beige/latte light colours, but nothing tan/mid brown or darker brown). This bag popped up in a when searching for 'tan'. It intrigued me, the price was in budget, so I bought it.

1. Does anyone have one now or had one in the past? Can you provide me with any more info on it? The style number is E0873 - 12738

I have looked around and found some outlet metallic versions with the F12738 that appear to be from around 2010. More interestingly I found an old post from the purse forum, but the style number is out by one digit, being 12739. From the pictures the only thing I can notice as being different in the one in this old post from 2008 has a woven handle, whereas the 12738 has a plain leather handle.

2. The creed says it is glove tanned leather, but as it woven leather and complicated in design, how would you tackle the makeover? How would you wash/clean it and what product would you use to conditioning it? I don't have it in had yet, but can see 1 pen mark on the front.

Thanks, Denise
I have a couple of Zoe bags and they are great bags! Stylish and comfortable to wear on the shoulder.

I never had a woven Zoe but I remember seeing them at the stores and they were beautiful bags.

Zoes were offered in different colors, sizes, and materials, including glove-tanned and patent leather; the slight differences in style numbers you are seeing may refer to different sizes of similar bags.

If my memory is correct then I think that the woven Zoes came in both an extra-large "editorial size" and also a medium size, but I am not positive about that. My advice would be to check the measurements of any bag that you are considering purchasing and make sure that the size seems good for you. Good luck!

Thank you for the info. I have already purchased the bag, but it has to make its way to Western Australia. I generally gravitate to simple cleaner lines, but this one caught my attention. Hopefully I will be able to give it the right care when it gets here.

Piping Repair Questions

1. Do you think this can be sewed back in place or would the piping need to be replaced? ( I have an experienced shoe cobbler, but before I make the long commute, I wanted to get your expert insight.)

2. Any suggestions for repair are welcomed.

Hi, I'm not experienced but I can't imagine sewing it in this place, but probably glue. I'm sure you get a reply from someone who has the experience and can provide a detailed response of how to go about it and what product to use. Good luck.

It depends on how perfect you want it. You can glue it back, then use some products to disguise the break. Personally I wouldn't replace the piping for just that.

It's not bad! I agree that a repair is better than replacement in this case. Here's what I would do, and the products, I would use.

#1 I'd glue it back in place. I like Aileen's leather glue. https://www.amazon.com/Aleenes-Leather-Suede-Craft-White/dp/B089CZPKTV?th=1 Sometimes I'll use Petronio's leather cement https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076DJQN5R. Here's my thinking, if it's a solid nonflex area, I use leather glue. Dries solid and clear. If it's a flexing type area (like on a strap split), I'll use the leather cement. Dries more flexible.

Structurally, that would take care of it. However, I'm assuming you'd like it to look less noticeable.

#2. I'd fill the cracks along the split with this product: Angelus Leather Filler https://www.amazon.com/Angelus-Repairing-Scratches-Furniture-Flexible/dp/B0BT8CCBNL

#3 Recoloring on top of the filler. You can use a cream or a dye. I've found this brand to have a good match for British Tan: https://meltonian.com/products/meltonian-shoe-creme-polish. They call it "London Tan."

Good luck and please share your "after" photo(s). :) It's so much fun to work on these old purses.

@Denise-WestAust I stumbled on an inactive thread here in Coach Clubhouse called “The Zoe Club!!” I think I saw at least one mention of wovens. If there isn’t any direct care advice, you might find out more about the bag at least. And it’s a fun read.

Hey friends!!!! I’ve looked on here for tips before but this is my first time actually posting! I recently got this Willis and sprayed with vinegar because I know it’s been in storage for a while. When I sprayed the interior, this spot came up on the outside but I can’t see it at all on the suede interior. Anyone know what it might be/how I should treat it? Was planning on Lexol cleaner then leather cpr but am open to any tips and advice. thank you!!!!

Hi, thanks for the reply. I have had fun reading over lots of the old Zoe Club pages. I have posted a reply in the Zoe Club, even though there hasn't been activity for years. Will be interesting to see if I get a responses.

Quick question re vachetta rehabbing — for old Coach vachetta (65th Anniversary bags) rehab, are there any opinions on Cadillac ‘regular’ green bottle conditioner vs Cadillac Select white/translucent bottle conditioner? Thanks!
I do not use/have the regular Cadillac conditioner (does that look like a clear gel?) but did use the Cadillac Select. If you are interested, search my posts from around November, December ‘23 for what I did on my Anniversary vachetta tote. I may have also listed links from doing a deep dive on vachetta here.

I have the Select, which I bought after reading your tote rehab (gorgeous!!) and @whateve ‘s recs. That’s what I plan to use. Then I stumbled on a number of votes for the regular green bottle over Select specifically for vachetta, on TPF LV and other forums. I was curious if anyone here had similar views or knew why that might be. I’m going to check your very helpful posts for further deep dive!

Happy to share. Well if other vachetta users have found something that works, great. Good to have varied sources.

On a side note, I joined tPF back in 2017 and am finding some links in old posts I bookmarked no longer work so I am going to start copy/pasting helpful, interesting info. Someone did a deep dive and found out a little info on the company, from New England I believe, that made the nautical hardware with the little anchors. I was going to post it, but the link is no longer active! Hopefully it won’t be to hard to find the info.
