Thats beautiful and a great find!

Lots of people drive 40 miles to go thrifting on YouTube. I used to just walk down the street but I think I'm going to need to hunt out other stores in places like Sacramento (I am in SF) - where they still have Savers and St Vincent de Paul. Our goodwills went WAY upscale, too much - almost like consignment.
Sacramento is much better than SF. I haven't shopped there in awhile but when I did I loved Eco Thrift. The best one was in Elk Grove but I think that one has closed. Citrus Heights is good too. There were great thrift stores in Stockton the last time I was there.

The goodwills on Geary (Fillmore and Hyde in the Tenderloin) - used to be gold mines though. I can't believe the bags I actually left behind in those places around 2017. They had cases where they would "mark up" the best bags too $19.99 and the regular Coach bags were $12.99. So no bag was over $19.99. I got a brand new Willis City bag with the booklet, and that purple 70s double kiss lock both at the Hyde location for $19.99. Then a green binocular and other standards like the swinger for regular price. The basic bags were sometimes $8, I left a TON of those behind. Kicking myself.
I do think I picked up all the best ones back then though.

I remember when I left bags behind because they were $15 and I thought that was too much! I'm still kicking myself over a mini cosmetic in lilac that I passed up because it was $12.

The bins in Santa Rosa aren't that good. I went there a few times. Pricing at California bins is too high now, Santa Rosa was $3.45/lb. That means most items are over $2, and bins are mostly junk. You are better off going to a Salvation Army 50% off sale which they have every month for practically the same pricing.

I know, some people here found Coach Couriers :amazed: at their bins. But I've never found any decent bags at bins in CA. And there are no bins in the Bay Area anymore - just wholesale where you buy a whole gaylord.

I heard you guys talking the other day about red, white & blue thrift. There's one in Oregon, several hours from me. But, when I happen to be down that way.... going to check it out!
It's totally worth it. Even when I broke my hip in Tacoma, I made sure to stop in Gladstone OR on the way home just to visit the Red White and Blue! That was in 2019. I got a red station bag for $19.99 and a mahogany Willis for $24.99..

All you ladies are soooo lucky to have viable thrifting places. My closest one only goodwill is 25 miles away and totally useless, in that they carry only trash. I have no idea where the local coaches or other good purses wind up when they are discarded or traded up. There is one hospital thrift I will check out, but it is way out of my way - so just hoping. However, I do kick myself for not checking out more coaches, back in 2012-13 when I purchased my Metropolis and my Janice and when those purses were still affordable. I have been looking for a true green (jade ?) purse for a long time but the only ones available are in Japan...which makes me wonder, how come Japan seems to hold the monopoly on green purses.

I'm not lucky usually. I only find good stuff when traveling. Once in a long while, I'll find something nearby but it is so rare that I hardly ever go.

Has anybody ever used "Lexol #1"? Apparently this is something you can use to remove paint on painted bags. Has anybody tried it? I have a few painted bags I wouldn't mind cleaning up.

Here is my recent dilemma. I received this red classic pouch in a bundle. IF you notice, some dark spots are showing through which I find weird. On the front upper right near buckle, on the back upper right and near seam and even on the creed, under the C of the Coach, or just look closely at creed border upper right corner. . I am wondering if this was a painted bag years ago, but if so you would expect more dark to show through. The leather isn't in good condition it is very stiff.

Any advice? TIA

Based on those pictures, I don't think it was painted. It has that old leather look. Have you dunked it?

no not yet, it is in my "to do" pile. Some leathers get stiff like that, and others don't.

BTW I am going to Petaluma, CA this week. They have tons of thrift and consignment stores there, I will report back if any are any good.

Happy with how this old Alexandra rehab turned out. Finally finished her last Carnauba treatment & buffing yesterday. I wanted a carefree looking, comfy, old slouchy throw around bag. The leather really bounced back after her Dawn detergent bath! After mink oil and carnauba creme treatment, the colour has gone from metallic bronze to a more “non metallic” looking taupe-ish tan. The leather is more delish than I imagined now. Very happy ! 😊IMG_2996.jpegIMG_3002.jpeg

I've found savers thrift stores (in my area called value village) to be a great place to find coach bags. I just found this yesterday! It was $50 and they had it back behind the counter. I had a twenty percent off discount coupon so I paid $40. Ranch bag, looks to need very minimal rehab.

Sigh....The One bag that is on my wish list.
Still upset that they 'lost' the package that had the one I bought on Instagram in...this is two years ago now.
