Aww thank you. This will be the first time I attempt this type of rehab so appreciate your expertise  will I be ok to dunk the bag in future if it needs it? With the cement and acrylic paint?
I believe the cement should survive a dunk after it has had time to set. I'm not sure about acrylic paint. I don't think it would come off easily.

It's beautiful!!!
Thank you ❤️ I don’t know if you follow me on Instagram but Coach have a re-loved pop up shop in London and I’ve acquired bags I never dreamed I would even see so I feel really lucky. They’ll be popping up across the world in different locations so worth subscribing to Coach’s newsletters.

Very basic question: How do you know when it is enough CPR? I have seen people talk about 10+ coats. How do you know when you are done?

I’m not an expert by any means (I’ve only rehabbed three bags to date, I’ll post about my scooter), but after a dunk and depending on the leather, I condition based on how it feels since a bath removes a lot its natural/accumulated oil.

I’ve read that once Leather CPR just “sits” on the leather (i.e. it no longer is being absorbed as easily), it is a sign that you can stop applying the conditioner. I’m not exactly sure what it mean if I am being honest, I just buff until I think it looks like it got soaked in and am satisfied with how it feels texture/look (texture and color)—there’s probably some diminishing returns the more you apply, I would say it’s up to you in the end.

If I remember correctly, I did less than 3 coats for my Turkey City bag because it was softer and the leather is thinner (so it soaks less). I needed more coats for my NYC pocket purse: it is still feels more firm than my City bag, I think I applied more than 7-8 coats of Leather CPR and I‘ve recently applied some on it since it gets used a lot. For my US Scooter bag, I needed at least 6 coats (in terms of softness, it is between my NYC pocket purse and my Turkey City bag).

I got this Scooter bag off eBay last week, it was a bit more than what I would want to spend on but I had a $10 off (so it ended up costing me $70 with shipping). I was fine with spending this much since I really wanted a Scooter for a while and I wanted to get a British tan as I wanted something for a very casual look. The bag was authenticated by Hyacinth, it’s made in the US in the early 1990s according to her.

It had a pen mark on the suede (?) side of the flap, I did attempt to remove it with a white eraser but it didn’t do much so I just stopped and did not touch it given what I’ve read about it.

I didn’t want to remove the brass hardware this time (I am honestly a bit lazy with these and it’s probably the most painful to do—removing and installing them back is difficult for me, so I only do it if I see verdigris).

It needed about 6-7 coats of Leather CPR, I did one coat of Blackrocks (I had to wipe it off because I put too much).

It cleaned up really nicely and it wasn’t too difficult to rehab. I’m definitely on the lookout for another British tan bag, the color is lovely (I think a lunch box because I want some kind of camera bag and the handle is cute).

I am going to dump some photos because I love seeing before and after.

Bonus photo, just took out of the dunk and mid-drying (at that point, I think 3 coats of Leather CPR have been applied). The colors appear different since it’s under a very bright white light.

Thank you! I love the level of detail you have provided!!! Really appreciate it.

I was thinking about this problem earlier today and realized the solution might just be pipe cleaners with a little simichrome or other polish to clean the gunk out of the strap loops, sort of like dental floss. I'd do it pre-dunk as @Crystalcoach suggested, then after w/out the polish. I don't have any pipe cleaners, so I can't test this theory, but I'm going to see if I can find some at the craft store and/or at an estate sale to use on my next project.
Thank you @kaokite , I think that is a great idea. I did not have any pipe cleaners in the house when I did the work, but I will get some in case I need to go through a tight loop again.

This is my 2nd challenging (more than a dunk and condition) that I e taken on. I bought it on Poshmark and the seller did not disclose a hole in the bottom corner. Come to think of it, this was a purchase made before I found TPF so I probably didn’t have it authenticated. After all the work I hope it’s not a fake. Anyway, I ended up doing a couple dunks to try to get rid of some discoloration / spots and to get it properly shaped. I conditioned the heck out of it, used a bit of recoloring balm and used leather repair on the corner. Considering I’m a newbie rehabber I think it turned out pretty good. First 2 before photos are from Poshmark, next 3 are after 1st dunk and the next 5 are finished with the last one of the repair.
