OK, here's a question for you experts. I got this more modern "penny" 2012 bag... style #19914. It's in amazingly good condition, except, it's squished. Seems to be a common thing. Should I dunk? Is that the best way to reshape? Other techniques? I don't want the silver lettering on the back to come off.

I wouldn't dunk. The dyes on this line are generally on the surface. Stuff with warm towels out of the dryer and hang it the bathroom while you take a shower.

Hi All,
I want to dunk this dusty Ergo bag; it needs reshaping and CPR/BR but it is lined and I am worried about the creed patch warping or doing something weird because I want to sell it. Anything I special I need to do when dunking this kind of Ergo?

When it comes out of the bath, pull the lining out, if you can, to let it dry first. Pat the creed dry, then use a hairdryer to get it mostly dry. Once the creed is dry, you can put the lining back inside and stuff to shape the bag.

Hello, Rehabbers. I have a question (or two) for those of you with more experience and knowledge than I. So, basically all of you. This duffle is quite distressed. I asked the seller if the leather surface is damaged and she said 'no'. She said that the distressing is from regular wear / use. I'm not sure if I'd want the distressing to go completely away with rehabbing but I'm curious what you all think. Does the leather look damaged to you? What do you think a dunk and conditioning would accomplish? Anybody want to predict more of the future? I understand this would be anyone's best guess. I'm not sure I know what to think at all. ( This was authenticated this morning.) Any insights or thoughts at all would be greatly appreciated and very helpful.

It doesn't look too bad to me. Some of those long lines appear to be grain marks, which would probably still be visible after rehabbing, but not as much as now. Some of the rest are scratches. I think with a bath and a lot of conditioning, it would look good. It is possible that any deep scratches or extreme damage to the surface would result in darker areas once it was conditioned.

That's some serious dryness that causes that kind of wear. I'd say it's never been conditioned and was used a LOT. I think it would definitely look better after a dunk but that won't bring all the color back, not in those really light areas. Obenauf's oil and/or other intense deep conditioning might help it. It could end up okay but I wouldn't pay that much for it as it's a gamble. You can usually find a duffle cheaper than that if you want to keep looking, and in much better condition.

Oh my I just noticed she described the bag as "mint" condition. Wowzas!

Thank you, @whateve I was hoping to hear your thoughts as you’ve been very perceptive with other bags with issues I never even thought of.

Thank you @Belicious. The price for the condition is my main hang up now. I just rehabbed a center seam duffle in BT that looked like it had been left in a mechanics garage. It’s gorgeous now and I will carry it soon. That sort of whet my appetite for a “distressed” bag. I’m just not sure if this bag will be it.

I also think the bag might restore quite well, however that is a shocking price for one in that condition.

Did those initials disappear after the dunk? I don't see the initials in the after picture, or is it that Saphir polish that covered it up?
I've got a dinky with initials... your initials seem gone
