Screw on rings are so easy, you just need a pair very small flat head screw driver.Ooh, I love the look. I need to remember this if I ever need to replace rings. Those would be a lot easier to put on.
Many years ago an SA at a Coach store gave me a couple to use to attach purse charms to my bag. I don't know what I did with them.Screw on rings are so easy, you just need a pair very small flat head screw driver.
Good point! There was something else I just thought of.... the larger horseshoe rings will not let the leather slide around, bashing the leather loops, like I have seen on some bags. Being larger and more "stationary" should protect the leather loops they are attached to as well, allowing them to bend in only one dimension, rather than from side to side ??
It is often softer and more supple. That doesn't mean it is always better than bags from other plants. My favorite leather of the bags I own is a 1999 US Rambler's Legacy but there isn't very much difference from my Costa Rican court bag, which is also great.Have a question….
What’s is special about Costa Rica coach leather? I’ve skimmed through some chats & it keeps coming up as something rather special…
Just Curious
It couldn't hurt. I love leather CPR!it sounds like CPR and BR are the product of choice in this group. Should I start fresh with another bath / conditioning?

is she completely dry? Is that stain in the front right side ink? i’m assuming it’s a stain…. Reno Mat, I’ve had Great results with so far with ink, oil spots, discoloration. I would dunk her again & give her a quick bath- stuff her with folded towels & get her shape a bit more even. My experience is limited but i’ve dunked about 8 bags so far & had great results. My little mishapen ones did come out with conditioner & have stuffed the bag after conditioning to smooth out the bag. The products i use are pricey but you don’t have to use a lot. I’ve been testing many of their products- I like the Napa Conditioner as it doesn’t over shine the leather. The cream 1925 color helps even the color & will not permanently color the bag-I love YouTube- Lyssa Makes New- I’m behind in my pics- i don’t have long term experience -just avid researcher, overly neurotic with details & bent on over achieving . plus obsessive with Coach purses. My crazy is showing so i’m going to tuck that back in…Note: thats what the top & the sides of the jars look like. Definitely research how to use the products correctly- that’s probably TMI - but what the heckI’m wondering if anyone has suggestions on how to get this gal looking a little less worse for wear and tear. She’s had a couple baths and has been conditioned with apple and chamberlain’s but it sounds like CPR and BR are the product of choice in this group. Should I start fresh with another bath / conditioning? Id love to see the color even out but am at a loss for how to make that happen. Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks for the tip on Reno mat, never heard of it. I'll give it a try. I have a Cashin square handle satchel in a light color with a big ink stain at the bottom. Alcohol helped.... a little. I know there are good products for ink out there beyond just using alcohol. If you take a leather jacket to the dry cleaner with ink on it and pay $80 for them to clean it.... they get it out. Gotta be a way.is she completely dry? Is that stain in the front right side ink? i’m assuming it’s a stain…. Reno Mat, I’ve had Great results with so far with ink, oil spots, discoloration. Not TMI at all! I think we are kindred spirits. My obsession to vintage coach is new but strong! Proven by the fact that I currently have 7 bags I’ve rescued from thrift stores to rehab, this one is in the worst shape and only the second one I’m taking on. I have British Tan Station bag that is not as bad but close. I too am a perfectionist and will work tirelessly until finally admitting “it’s as good as I can get it”. I REALLY appreciate your advise and sharing with me the products you use. I’m going to search them out. I don’t think the stain is ink but from some sort of liquid. Originally seemed like it was water spots but I thought if it were it would be resolved in the bath. Also, in the first and second bath a lot of dye came off, more than I expected compared to the tutorials I found online. I have her in the bath right now and am going to let her soak a bit before rinsing and reshaping. She‘s a New York bag which makes her even more special to me so hoping for the best! You know I was so sidetracked by the condition of the bag I completely missed that. It’s actually a Willis 9927. I just thought it’d been abused.
Wow, what you did for the piping and the bottom of the bag, and for that saving the entire bag is amazing. I am not shy about taking on bags where that significant distressing of the leather, but I would shy away from exposed piping like that. Thanks for posting all the details. Here’s the final results on my learning bag 4924. very happy I even took a shot at burnishing the the straps.
Here’s the final results.
remember this?

You achieved that! With your immaculate "practice bag."

I think my only bag made in CR may be the little blue satchel I have seen referred to as a Penelope. The smooshiest softest leather is on my mahog Ranch from 1990-ish.It is often softer and more supple. That doesn't mean it is always better than bags from other plants. My favorite leather of the bags I own is a 1999 US Rambler's Legacy but there isn't very much difference from my Costa Rican court bag, which is also great.
Thanks for sharing the Saphir RenoMat. I have used Rejuvicuir and have been pleased with the results.is she completely dry? Is that stain in the front right side ink? i’m assuming it’s a stain….
