Actually I do have a Burgundy small shoulder bag that I dyed and quite happy with the result.
It has NYC creed, bag was very faded especially around pipping. I applied 2 coats of Feibing’s burgundy dye on damp bag, with 24 hours in between. Then conditioned with lots of CPR for several days, as the dye dried out the bag . It was set aside for about 3 month to let the dye worked it’s way deep into leather fibres, it was then dunked again to get rid of excess dye, following with CPR And black rock. No sealer was applied. The bag color looks quite natural. The last blurry photo is before , I only have a screen shot of the expired listing .

My goodness, that shoulder bag is stunning, @LunaSilver !!!! I LOVE your workmanship (as always!) and the colour!!!

I got this Aqua Waverly today - the seller said the bag is in excellent condition with no blemishes. Unfortunately there’s stains (oil?) and worn out leather on the back. I haven’t accepted the order yet because I can’t decide if I should keep it and work on it or just ask to return it. If I do keep it, I’m hoping I might be able to get the stains out - they bother me the most. As for the small patches where the color was worn off, I might try CPR and see if they fade a little (if I decide to keep it).

I’m leaning towards opening a case and sending it back. I bought this particular bag because it didn’t have any blemishes. The pictures were deceiving as well. I’m so disappointed!

Do any of you have suggestions on how to work on the stains or worn patches? Maybe spot cleaning with saddle soap or dawn? View attachment 5599997

I would not accept a bag that was "not as described". Also, in this case, this is a lightweight bag, which has thinner leather and is not as readily restored. It is also in a difficult to restore colour. Sorry, but I would encourage you to return it.

More opinions are welcome. :flowers:

I'd send it back. You can't work on it and then send it back. It needs to be returned in the condition it was received. It is extremely hard getting stains out of light colors without causing fading. Those look like oil stains, which are super hard to get rid of. I think it would be very hard finding one of these that is in perfect condition.
Yeah I know I can’t do anything to it until I decide to keep it or return. I figured there’s nothing I can do for the stains. The other sides, bottom, and inside are perfect though

Thanks LZ. I favour to return the Aqua bag too unless it is very cheap.

So here's my latest acquisition: A 1997 black Pocket crossbody. (original photo was from seller's listing).

Very straightforward rehab: remove hardware, dunk in dawn, 10 coats of CPR, 2 coats of Blackrock, polish and replace hardware. And I have a fantastic crossbody, the perfect size for popping into a large tote bag when I travel.

I loved the size and look of it so much, I wished it had a top handle so that I could use it as a small purse for evening. Soooo, I did a little sleuthing, and found a 20"L x 1/2"W replacement strap from Mautto with exactly the same hardware, and a leather identical to the original strap, and voila! An evening bag. (Never mind the strap cost half as much as the bag!!)

Super thrilled with this crazy-versatile bag! :yahoo:

(Edit: Okay, so in my excitement, I forgot to remove my finger from the last photo, but you get the idea!)

Your rehab has convinced me I need to get some black bags! It looks so rich and pristine. Beautiful work!

I find it annoying that so many sellers will post pics like this and say the bag is in excellent condition with loads of exclamation points. No, your bag is not in excellent condition!! Sellers stop doing that!! Right now!!
Okay, rant over.

That's lovely and thanks for the suggestion for a strap. I need one in red.
First report on the Blue Magic metal polish. Seems to polish better than my Met-all and Wenol. Sorry - before tarnish hard to capture.

Don't worry about not capturing before tarnish, I have many bags where the hardware needs polishing so I can imagine that. That came out nice. I have the Cape Cods clothes and get a good result with them.

Hey everyone how's it going. I have been on a rehab break. But still have my eye out when I go thrifting. I saw a BT Compartment Bag (needed a lot of love, but I am sure would look amazing after a dunk and CPR) and a mahogany Light Tote yesterday at a thrift shop for $25 and $20. Oh yeah and a Foach that wanted to be a Prairie Bag. I was kind of surprised, but maybe because it was a weekday. And I saw a black Legacy Zip for $35, from Costa Rica to boot at a different shop today, where I was dropping off a box of stuff. But I resisted temptation. At least until I let go of some bags.
I haven't seen my girlfriend with the Pony, haha, I look for her in Whole Foods.
Okay on a side note, with this last upgrade to the site, there are now no brackets between quotes on multiquote, so I don't have to worry about putting a reply in the post I am quoting, so that's a plus ... and doing this multi-quote, assuming it goes through, wasn't a complete glitch-fest like when I tried the other day ...
So maybe I will be a little more active here.

Hi Lake,
You got me into the 9385 shoulder purse envy for a long time now, finally I can join the club soon. Will post pic once received.

Oooohhhh I wonder if it was a listing I saved … looking forward to the reveal. Such a cutie. I am sure there is another kisslock style bag in my future, maybe a ‘big mouth’ …
Oh I am thinking about the good old days, before so much vintage Coach got Pony Expressed. I am feeling a little nostalgic. I passed a neighborhood sign for the annual Lion’s Club flea market in a few weeks. Back in ‘16 at that flea market I picked up a Classic Hobo and C Clutch for $10 each and somehow I now have around 5 dozen bags  Newbies this is your warning! Even non-vintage!

Hope you will get some amazing deals at the flea market. Your Winnie is still the winner, I don’t think anybody can top that.

Between that and winning bids for less than a Ben, on a large rusty Saddle and saddle Shopping Bag Tote, that was in excellent condition  among other deals, I have no complaints! :hugs: Well, other than sellers stating that bags are in excellent condition when they are clearly not
