I asked this question on the 'Vintage Coach and Chat" thread but thought I'd post here too.. Hoping someone knows!

Can anyone offer some info regarding #9128 bag strap size? Is it the wider 1 1/4 inch strap (I realize it tapers) with the larger grommet holes similar to a Patricia Legacy #9951 or are the grommet holes smaller like the Janice #9950?

Here's a pic of the 9128 strap and grommet hole that I'm inquiring about. It looks to me to be the larger size but would like other opinions please! Thank you!!

I don't have this bag so I can't comment on the strap, except to say that this strap tapers at the bottom and the strap for the Patricia's Legacy doesn't taper. The width of the strap might be the same, I think you will just have to get a PL strap and try it, sorry!

Rehab in process. Loose threads on the strap, I'm working to stabilize with fabric glue. It looks better, re: stains. 3 before and several now pics. It's another one of these fixing-it-up-to-sell but now-I-want-it-for-me bags. It's a vintage, style 9566 bag.

It’s been a while since I shared a rehab transformation! I won this black Derby at auction a few months back. It had a broken spring lock & lots of piping scuffs. I rehabbed it per my usual method: dawn & vinegar in really hot water, CPR while it was damp (I did 4 coats) & then 2 applications of Renapur followed by a buff. I applied some black Resolene to the piping areas that needed it. I also replaced the broken spring lock with a new turn lock from The Buckle Guy (inspired by that 1941 originals updated derby design). What do you guys think? I love it!

I. Love. It. I like the Turnlock even more than the original springlock. Great job! I only got my first Derby last month and was surprised it was larger than I thought. I really like it.

I have had colour come off on my hands when Ive been conditioning with CPR and also with Renapur...but have had none come off at all when using....its dries well. I usually CPR 2 hours after dunking and do many applications until dry and then I might do a Renapur when it's completely dry.
Ive found for me its normal if the bag has bleed heavily in the dunk.
Just let it sit for a few days and dry fully.
Thanks much for the info - I've been practicing patience since I read your post. Apparently that was the missing step in my rehab. :rolleyes:Instant gratification is not a part of a rehab and I got hasty. Just checked my bag....no color wear off and it's good to go! Yeah!

GORGEOUS!!!

Funny - the arsenal of rehab products! And no license required for mixing and applying it.

Sounds like I may have used the wrong product because I used CPR after the dunk. When I took "inventory" earlier, it turns out I already have Leather Therapy Oil and Lexol liquid cleaner. Can I apply Leather Therapy Oil now, or should I redunk to remove the CPR?
Amazon loves me - apparently every time someone here recommends a product that works for them, I purchase it. But somehow I missed getting Lexol wipes, so it's on my shopping list.

BTW - have any of you ladies used Leather Honey Conditioner on a bag? I originally bought it for leather car seats, then thought I'd use it on a bag, but it's pretty thick for either application. In the summer heat of the south that might turn out to be an enormous mess. Thoughts or experience?
O
I wonder the same about the reviews. :confused1: Every time I even look at my bottle of Leather Honey I think of Winnie the Pooh and his honey pot.
lmaoo  I don’t use this on my coach bags but I’ve used it on my sofa. If you get the bottle and put it in warm water for a bit it makes the liquid more malleable and easier to use. Works a treat

I am also a pen lover and struggle with the whole pen in bag issue. There are some beautiful pen cases out there that appeal greatly to my SLG loving heart, Galen Leather in particular, but ultimately I don’t use them enough while out to carry multiple pens so I just settle for a simple slim Cross pen and leave the Mont Blancs at home. I feel bad telling people no they can’t borrow my pen if asked but I almost lost a MB pen by foolishly loaning it out once. Had to shake them down to get it back.

So, if one needs to carry a pen, make it a nice one and get a pen case! So much opportunity for beauty! And don’t even get me going on colored inks…
Shake them down, I love it

Has anyone seen this before? And know the best way to fix it if it’s fixable? I’ve dunked the bag. Inside the bag looks fine and it doesn’t smell of damp at all. I’m miffed :whut:

Are you referring to the spots or to the shape of the bag? The spots look like mold and probably aren't fixable. Washing with vinegar water should kill the mold but it won't remove the spots. Regarding the shape of the bag, did you stuff it with towels to shape it during the early drying period?

Thanks for getting back to me. Do you think the bag is still mouldy even if I can’t smell it? I might just wash it with vinegar. So nothing removes the spots? I’m contemplating using this bag with the spots :confused1:

The spots do look like mold to me, but there may be other opinions. Mold is hard to kill so I would rewash it with vinegar in the water. Let it soak at least 15 minutes and then rinse with plain water. Moisturizing the bag may darken it a little and may make the spots less noticeable.

The spots are part of the bag's history so you can certainly wear the bag with them, or you can consider dying the bag a dark color to cover them. It's a beautiful bag whatever you decide to do!

I completely agree. I have to admit, I rehab to a stage the hardware looks new etc. but I’m starting to enjoy these bags with their stretch marks, marks and even spots. They’re authentic and beautiful. Thanks katev
