Here's a Red Lexington Briefcase (not authenticated) for $60 OBO. It has some issues, including little tabs of wear sticking out all along the top. I think that they might rehab okay if you sand them very gently with sandpaper - but I am not sure. All I know is that it's red!!!

Looks like a cat got to it. Sandpaper or extremely careful skivving would probably improve it, but it will never be perfect. But perfection is highly overrated anyway, lol

I thought of a cat but it seems to be kind of regular and concentrated in one area of the bag. I guess I expected cat scratches to be more random. I agree that it will never be perfect but it can (hopefully) be improved.

It looks like somebody made an offer and bought the red briefcase! I hope that they got it at a good price and that the rehab will work for them!

So, I got the bag I'm going to use for the lappy. It does not quite fit, but it'll do for when I need the lappy. This bag has a lining and I read somewhere on here that the lining should be pulled out to dry and the creed patch should be dried with a hair dryer so that the imprint stays clear. Now, I have this question; if I dunk the bag and pull out the lining to dry, how am I going to shape the bag ? After drying the lining, do I put it back into the damp bag. These questions sound really dumb now that I read them, but this is a nice bag and I would not like to mess it up.

I asked this question on the 'Vintage Coach and Chat" thread but thought I'd post here too.. Hoping someone knows!

Can anyone offer some info regarding #9128 bag strap size? Is it the wider 1 1/4 inch strap (I realize it tapers) with the larger grommet holes similar to a Patricia Legacy #9951 or are the grommet holes smaller like the Janice #9950?

Here's a pic of the 9128 strap and grommet hole that I'm inquiring about. It looks to me to be the larger size but would like other opinions please! Thank you!!

Hello

I am thinking of buying this vintage coach bag, a chester I think, I need to get it authenticated.

I think this is mould on the bag, as well as other stains, do you think that dunking would remove this? Never dunked before but thought this could be a good one to start on!

Many thanks

Swishing the bag with vinegar, or dunking with sufficient vinegar in the water will kill the mold, but the stains (from mold) are unfortunately permanent. One option is to dye the bag afterwards. Sorry, probably not what you hoped to hear...
Other opinions are welcome.

Thank you very much for this - no, it's fine I probably won't bother so you have saved me wasting any money!

I dunked a black basic bag that lost lots of color in the dunk but finally rinsed clear. The CPR conditioning left a very slight bit of black on my rag. But the Blackrocks application is leaving even more black on the rag. Color transfer when carrying the bag is now a concern. Will allowing the bag to sit a couple of days to cure make a difference? What did I do wrong???
Input/thoughts appreciated, please and thanks.

I have had colour come off on my hands when Ive been conditioning with CPR and also with Renapur...but have had none come off at all when using....its dries well. I usually CPR 2 hours after dunking and do many applications until dry and then I might do a Renapur when it's completely dry.
Ive found for me its normal if the bag has bleed heavily in the dunk.
Just let it sit for a few days and dry fully.

It’s been a while since I shared a rehab transformation! I won this black Derby at auction a few months back. It had a broken spring lock & lots of piping scuffs. I rehabbed it per my usual method: dawn & vinegar in really hot water, CPR while it was damp (I did 4 coats) & then 2 applications of Renapur followed by a buff. I applied some black Resolene to the piping areas that needed it. I also replaced the broken spring lock with a new turn lock from The Buckle Guy (inspired by that 1941 originals updated derby design). What do you guys think? I love it!
