yes I'm moving towards it being butterscotch...but I dont think the hangtag is correct for it...completely different colour.

The hangtag could be just a different dye lot…..maybe

The hangtag and other thinner parts of the bag (often the straps) tend to dry faster and may look very different from the main body of the bag. Wait until everything is dried and conditioned before making a decision about the hangtag.

So… update on my goodwill find Anderson bag with the ink stains. Everything bad you have ever heard about ink stains is true, and I broke every rehab rule in regards to them with this bag. But in my defense, it was cheap and I wanted to experiment.
First I used cuticle remover and stain remover and tried to remove as much of the ink as I could.

Then I decided to dunk. I know most of the experienced rehabbers are groaning right now but I knew the risks and had a back up plan- and wanted to experiment. The bag was in bad shape and needed the dunk.

yup woke up this morning to this. Another round of stain remover and a dunk of just the corner and I will leave it to fully dry before committing anymore sins against this poor bag.

This is where we are now. My backup plan is to take it in and get some tea roses put on it if I can’t stand the stain. Or I can dye it.
I’ll update when I’m all done.

Ink stains are awful! I feel your pain! I purchased a bone colored trail bag (#9965) with an ink stain that I tried to remove with Amodex. The stain then bled and became horrific.

No groaning from me. Side eye to my pile of stalled rehabs rehabs-in-progress. Definitely in the group of experimental-type rehabbers.
I would still like to see where it goes after all the conditioning is done.

I'd love to see it with tea roses. The tea roses will cost more than the bag. That's what happened the bag I had tea roses added to the strap. I bought the bag at Goodwill for $16, then paid $113 for the tea roses. But they are beautiful.

Hey guys!

I just wanted to share something with everyone. I’ve just discovered electroplating for these older bags that have brass plated hardware on which the brass has worn off. I got mine on Amazon but they have a website too. It’s Caswells plug n plate. Here’s some pics of the first project I did on hardware from a members bag.
This is the set up which is a non arsenic process

This is the progression, a before, a polished down to the nickel mid process, and finished

and here are the finished open rings

I’ve also started experimenting with metal still attached to the leather, like this kisslock frame on a Watermelon. I only just started to do the left corner there, but you can see the gold starting to show and it didn’t burn the leather.

It’s kind of like painting in you have to keep moving the liquid so there is an “art” to it. The kit is only around $70 and mine is lasting far past expiration date.
Just something fun for you guys to try and more tools in your box!!
Now it makes me feel really lazy considering I did nothing to my d-rings on the Kent....I so wish I had your confidence to take off the Ds and polish.

That is amazeballs!!!.....Go see @Busykitty on her instagram...its seriously drool worthy.
