You should apply leather glue to those large cracks and let it dry before painting.

It's a lovely bag, I think that black rocks will make it look even better.
I will apply BR in a day or two.. The Leather Therapy and CPR is still absorbing - I didn't want to do too much too soon. ??

I have piping from another bag that I salvaged for parts and what not I was thinking of cutting that to exact size of the bigger gap. This will be a new remedy leather endeavor for me.

Oh, these bags have me hook, line and sinker.

Usually the piping overlapped. You might want to remove a section of the edging so you can put in a bigger piece and overlap it.

I've pondered that but I just don't want to sew that much and my OCD side would sew it. I don't like the strap really. I just want to preserve it.

AND! I will have you know that I figured out why I don't like this style - it's too masculine. There isn't enough "girlie" in this bag for me. I like a front flap with a hint of.. something... rather than nothingness - like a turnlock or a clasp or some sort.

I do hope that makes sense!

I think I felt that way about this style when I first saw it. I still don't like Patricias for that reason. I don't know why this style is growing on me. Partly it is the tapered strap. You'd probably like the Ranch bag.

I'm not sure if this is a rehab question, or belongs somewhere else...? I got this cute little bag, Coach 9993 and it's lost it's crossbody strap along the way. Does anyone know how to replace... How long should it be, how thick should it be? Sources for replacement? Any ideas of a different strap that would work?

Wayback says it is a 48 inch adjustable strap. I think it looks like a Willis strap in terms of thickness. It has dogleash clips. Mahogany shouldn't be too hard to find, although there is a lot of varieties of mahogany. There are a few companies that make straps (Mautto) or you could buy a cheap bag for its strap. You could also buy a cloth strap, like a guitar strap, from some place like Amazon.aqua088.jpg

Has anyone dunked a vintage leather kisslock coin purse? Or is there a way to remove the coin gunk/residue from the leather interior of the coin purse?
I never have but the leather on these doesn't seem as thin as that on a wallet so it might do okay. You could try cleaning the interior with vinegar.

If it is an unlined vintage leather coin purse I wouldn't hesitate to treat it the same way that I would rehab a vintage kisslock bag with verdigris on the metal. I would remove the kisslock hardware, give the bag a bath and a final rinse with vinegar, soak the hardware in vinegar and then dig out the gunk and polish it up.

FYI, below are before and after photos of a rainbow-striped lined 65th Anniversary Legacy kisslock coin purse 40708 that I rehabbed. It was dirty but not gunky. I didn't dunk it but I cleaned and conditioned it and it came out well.

Have you removed kisslocks? On most of the vintage coin purses I've seen, the frame is covered with leather with just the knobs of the kisslock uncovered.

@DL Harper I forgot I rehabbed one of these! I'm pretty sure I dunked it and talked about it in this thread.

Here's a before and after.

Good grief, I was thinking turnlocks! I've never removed a kisslock, so sorry! Duh!
