The strap is fine, I guess I don't know what I'd save it for.

*feeling dumb* for not knowing.
I have no idea. I can't help but feel it may be good for a replacement or something?? I know how incredibly unhelpful that is. But if you are going to scrap the bag, I would consider the D rings, strap and yes, go ahead and laugh, if you cut out the inner pocket, you could bind of the edge and sell it for $25 on online. Others have. Sold the inner pocket as a pouch, I mean. Oh yeah, and probably laughed at me too.

I can't believe I am saying this, but I think I will get some Renapur out and give my Sling and Ergo an app. Will report back tomorrow!
Yes, I did get to give my big Ergo 9899, I believe toffee is the official color and a very worn BT Sling some Renapur love last night! They are looking good. I took pics today but the lighting was not idea. I will try again tomorrow so I can post. No great super amazing rehab outcomes, just two bags with quite a bit of wear got a thorough cleaning and conditioning that look a little better. Next I will give a little Mocha kisslock Shoulder Purse some Renapur and polish the hard ware.

So.. It's a Monday in the early 1990's at the Coach factory. A beautiful Collegiate is sewn together (I think this is honey and cocoa.. definitely not a BT!) but somewhere along the way a very small error was made....

Flash forward some (just shy of) thirty years later. A woman (me in case you were wondering) gets a hold of this bag and laughs in delight at said error - Look at the inside color of the longer strap - it's the same color as the trim but the outside layer(s) of both straps are the lighter honey color.

I love quirks like this! She's lovely too! She had a bath, one coat of CPR and just applied some BR. Hardly a rehab when a bag is in great condition.

Nice! I wonder if the piping and strap were refurbished by Coach at a later date. I believe that is the case with my Basic Bag.

Happy Monday! Wanted to share what I worked on recently! I rehabbed my rust small shoulder bag but was unhappy with the original strap being so short. I ordered a longer Emery varsity strap from Coach outlet thinking it would work as a replacement. Although the strap matched well, the white part was too wide to fit through the buckles of my bag.

I decided to take a gamble & hack off the edge coating on the varsity strap. It fit perfectly once I sanded the sides down to the stitching after painting.

I originally tried painting the white part of the strap to match the middle purplish colour but messed up. When I tried to wash off the paint, it seeped into the crevices of the pebbled leather. I liked how it looked so I added spots of different paint colours & stippled/dabbed/wiped until I got an interesting design I was happy with.

I also accidentally messed up sanding in a few places so it’s not perfect but very unnoticeable thanks to the paint patterns. I finished by painting the raw edges & then sealing everything with Duraclear from Michael’s (polyurethane coating).

It’s one-of-a-kind now & I LOVE it!
