So the nyc bt collegiate I thought was v mint was actually v used and dry and I was itching to rehab it but couldn't find cpr where I was in socal and settled for lexol. Big mistake - it was absolutely rubbish!!! It congealed and crusted up on the surface whilst not actually hydrating any of the dry areas... Redunked it when home and the cpr is being the usual delight. It's more patinated than expected so will be a workhorse and possibly summer travel xbdy along w/ the azure ergo. Waiting on the cpr to finish absorbing then will BR it.

Thank you for telling us this. I have a big bottle of Lexol.

I use Lexol for "light jobs" but not for bags that really need heavy conditioning. I often use Lexol cleaner wipes and Lexol conditioner wipes to maintain bags at the end of the season - before putting them into storage for awhile. I also use Lexol on "delicate" items if I am afraid that a heavier conditioner might not be a good choice. And I use Lexol if I am in a hurry but my bag is dull and I want to give it a fresh shine. I have never had it congeal or crust up on the surface of a bag, maybe there was something wrong with that bottle?

My favorite conditioner for rehabs is Leather CPR and I also like Leather Therapy Restorer and Conditioner for really dry bags.

Black Rocks is my top choice for finishing a bag and restoring the color and shine. Renapur is fine but I personally prefer BR. I guess we all have our favorites.

I use Lexol when I want to refresh a color. I prefer the thinner consistency when I'm mixing in acrylic paint. I find it soaks in well.

Yep I was about to come back and say it worked a treat as maintenance on my friend’s wallet so I gave it to him but was definitely not one to ‘bring life back’ to my bt. I love br!!!

Yes, another post on Lexol conditioner; I first read the idea of cleaning leather bags by soaking with and conditioning with Lexol products on the eBay boards long before I found tPF! I tried it first on a sturdy black Saddle and black Patti. I also had a pair of short black boots made from full grain leather I thoroughly cleaned. I too found that the condition left the items streaky. It clearly shows on black leather. As others have said, it is a light conditioner. I picked up Cadillac Supreme conditioner at one point and have been using that for a light conditioner. Yes, YMMV! It was really amazing to me as I learned about reconditioning vintage full grain leather here on this thread how varied the experiences with difference products are.

I was contemplating trying it! I won’t now, thank you!

I prefer BR. I had a meltdown at the airport on my way back from California because I wasn't allowed to bring a mega tub of it back to the UK and had to throw it away. I would rather pay up for it over using UK made Renapur LOL!

Me too!
Was this checked luggage or carry onthat you had to throw it away?! Sorry if that’s a dumb question.

I thought you could do it if you checked it? I haven't flown in awhile but we always brought our large bottles of shampoo and tubes of toothpaste in our checked luggage.
hmm...we must be stricter here....or its changed....
My cuz , who was a travel agent, said I couldnt take anythng larger than 100mls , even checked.
Still disappointing to have to sacrifice the CPR.
