Thanks! I still have a stash of Cape Cod cloths but I may try these. I am always looking for ways to make it easier to polish metal!
What I liked about these is they feel less chemical-soaked than the Cape Cod cloths, but I also think CC products are excellent. Please be aware the pro-polishing squares are small, maybe two inches on a side, and therefore are a little fussy to work with. I think the microfiber or foam surface is quite effective at lifting off tarnish. I was able to do one bag’s hardware and still had extra unused space on the square.

Dear all,
I am really excited as I just put my backpack in the washing machine (gentle hand-wash cycle with no spinning) It actually came out OK.
This was the backpack Hyancith authenticated for me on Sunday (thanks again), it arrived today. The inside was quite dusty but the outside was fine. So I turned inside out and put it in the washing machine.
Now it is drying, When will be the best time to put leather conditioner on? Do I put blackrock on or just a normal leather balm?
Many thanks in advance ☺

I usually start putting CPR conditioner on about 1 to 2 hours after washing....and keep on doing it maybe every 6 to 8 hours. I use Renupur after its dried and buff then.
Everyone has their own way of doing things...find what works for you.

Here you go: 20 Pro-Polish Polishing Pads https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B3Y5K4I?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I don’t recall the video specifying a particular brand, but this one seemed well-rated and I found the product to be pretty user friendly yesterday. Please let us know what you think if you try it. You are such an experienced person with vintage bag rehabs. I would like to know if you approve of this product!
I wonder how these compare to Cape Cod polishing cloths.

ETA: I see you already answered that.

sooo my red purse that has spots turning black on it - i think i’ve figured it out !
my hone has hard water - and i used unfiltered tap water to dunk my bag !!!
this is the info i found -
The constituents of hard water when it comes into contact with wet leather will react to the tannins in the leather and will eventually result in the leather turning black. The minerals contained in hard water can also cause the leather cleaner you use to clean your leather to build up soap residue.

anyone else run into this issue and figure it out the hard way like me ??

That is very good to know! Thank you for posting this. I have a filter shower head so I have been using filtered water because I have it handy, not realising this could happen.

Who knew??? My water here is not hard, but the area we are thinking of relocating to in the near future seems to have a lot of places with hard water, with many homes using water softeners or filtered drinking water if not a water softener. So should dunking be done in filtered/treated water if you have hard water? Wondering what effect the chemicals (water softeners) used for treating hard water will have on the dunking process and to the leather conditioners?

Hard water usually contains high volume of magnesium and calcium, maybe iron too. Not sure about the first 2, but iron will react with acid ( tannins is acidic), old school leather workers put rusted iron into white vinegar container to make their own black leather dye. But it take time for the mixture to become usable as dye.
Not sure why some bag will develop dark spots, some won’t.
Another thing need to watch out is leather covered metal kisslock frame, it is usually made of steel, if you dunk it with vinegar, the leather around enclosed kisslock May turned black in the process of drying.

ohhh thank you for the tip- even though i know vinegar is really acidic - it’s not something i would have though about if i was smelling mildew/mold ..
