@LunaSilver is correct, I have no problem with Buckleguy's products but I am concerned about the "fake-looking" dents in the washer for the female portion of the turnlock.

@Coachaddict4020 that's a very generous offer but I don't actually have a bag that needs new turnlock hardware at this time, but thank you!

In the past it has been my practice to keep an one intact replacement set each for both brass and nickel turnlocks on-hand, in case I come across a bag that has missing or broken turnlock hardware. Coach was always inconsistent about mailing free turnlock kits (and hangtags). Sometimes they would come quickly and other times you might wait weeks or months. I never complained because they were free and genuine, but it was handy to keep a couple on-hand but that hasn't been an option since they've stopped sending them.

Below are a couple of examples of bags I've rehabbed that were missing pieces of the turnlock hardware and it was very handy to have some available. Right now I only have a few odds and ends, and no complete turnlock kits. But I still have one brass washer so I will place an order with Buckleguy to at least have one set available. Thanks again!

Given they stopped using those kinds of turnlocks so long ago I'm surprised they even had them to mail you so recently! I hate the ones they use on new bags.

Coach still offers repair services (for a fee) and they are now selling (re)loved vintage bags, so they need to keep some hardware and other parts available.

This court was dyed from BT to burgundy last year, but I wasn’t happy with the result. It came as 5 bags rehab lot, ( included a terrible condition Casey, which I dyed, repaired pipping damage as much as I can, added tea rose appliqués all over the flap, and sold on eBay fully disclosed for $19, definitely spent more on materials, the other 4 bags were a very poor condition black Station, a very stained BT basic bag, a very stained BT court, and a black large Courier appeared was dyed black by previous owner ). As to this court, it has no structural damage, but lots of stain marks, got even worse after dunk, so it was dyed with Feibings burgundy pro dye, but the stains still shown as lots darkened area , especially on the flap, I wasn’t satisfied and put it back to rehab pile.
somehow I find the motivation the past week to rework it, it was dyed with Roma Burgundy dye this time, the shade is darker burgundy now and hides the stains better. I applied 3 coats CPR and 1 Coat Black Rock, leave it unsealed, as long as not get wet, the color won’t rub off.
Thanks to the tip from another Vintage Coach fan / collector, I glued rare earth magnets on the backs of 2 set of tearoses ( the left overs of remaining few tea rose charms, that’s why they have holes on it), and attached them to the flap by magnets, no modifications to the bag, they stay in place very good but also removable. Finally I am happy with this bag and can carry it with pride, Lol..,
First photo is from listing photo, as I didn’t take any befores, other photos are afters, with or without removable tea roses appliqués.

My goodness that came out beautifully! Good for you for giving it a second rehab attempt, you did right by this bag!

I’m excited to try my hand at dying, I’m about to order Roma dye following your suggestion, Luna!

Here’s the Patricia’s Legacy that’s going to get me started back on bag rehabbing. Gathering my leather products now. It’s in quite good shape, but don’t you just love the random melted stuff inside? Movie theater candy maybe? I gave it a good vacuum and will work on those spots for sure along with a dunk and product treatment.
The worst was a bag I had with gum in the pocket. I didn't see it before the rehab and the hot water made it much worse!!

Dye a bag can be a bit work, some times don’t turned out well, but if it turned out great is very rewarding. Wish you good luck and happy bag dying.
ETA: I found use a lint free microfibre cloth, dip the corner into dye container (or pour generous amount onto the cloth corner), then wipe onto the leather quickly, work on one panel of the bag each time, even out the dye before move to next panel, works better for me, wool dubbers leave streaks, and foam applicators will fall apart too quick by achol in the dye.
You probably need to apply several layers of dye, the Court was already dyed burgundy previously, it still needed 2 applications of dye (1 hrs apart ), also tape the suede part if not going to dye them, Not sure if Roma dye is indented for Suede as well, but the suede will use a lot of dye, better just dye suede separately with Rit fabric dye, or leave it as the original color if the bag is just for personal use

I just love how your Court turned out, @LunaSilver! It's making me want a burgundy bag!!! :yahoo:

Thanks. Burgundy is a great color for bags. I try not to dye a bag and leave it in original states, but sometimes a bag just not usable, when the stains give it the dirty look rather than just characters.
I have a BT Plaza that is just sitting because of a stain. I need to pull it out and see what I can do for it. Or to it!

Yesterday I sent a note to the Buckleguy Customer Support Center about the problem of the indentations on the female turnlock washers. They responded quickly and said that they will look into it - so fingers crossed!

Hi, I have ordered products from you in the past and I have always been satisfied with the quality, service, and pricing and I have recommended your goods to others; but now I have a concern and I hope you will be able to assist me.

It is my hobby/craft to find genuine, vintage Coach handbags at garage sales and in thrift shops and then clean and restore them. In some cases the turnlock hardware is missing or broken on these vintage designer bags.

You sell excellent quality brass and nickel-plated turnlock kits that are almost identical to the vintage Coach hardware but there is one major difference. The large, oval washer that fits behind the female portion of the turnlock plate has 4 indentations in your turnlocks but the original Coach female washers were completely flat without any indentations.

That doesn't sound like a big deal but apparently counterfeiters that copy and sell designer bags often use the turnlock hardware with these indentations in the female washers, so expert Authenticators now see these indentations as an indication that a bag is a counterfeit, even when it is genuine but has only been repaired because of a broken/missing turnlock.

I am writing to ask if it would be possible for you to also offer turnlock hardware with flat female washers as part of your inventory? Or perhaps offer the flat washers as a separate item? I know that this isn't a major issue for most people but it is important to me and others that share my passion; we would love to continue buying from you.

Thank you in advance for your prompt response.

Sincerely,
