I have used Rub-n-Buff in the Gold Leaf color to repair worn plating on Coach jewelry and I think that it helped a lot, see the link below.

But I've never tried it on the hardware of a bag because I don't think it would last and it would start wear off quickly in spots where the metal parts rub against each other.

I've also used Rub n' Buff to replace some worn plating on the Tony Duquette Coach keyfob 93101 B4 MC at the link below - and again I think that it helped - but a decorative charm doesn't get the heavy wear of bag's strap hardware.

Here's a link to order Rub 'n Buff and I think you can find it at some hobby stores and on Amazon, too. If you try to use it (or Rustoleum or another product) to repair metal-plating, please let us know how it works out.

Sorry that I don't have a better suggestion!

Yea, my main concern from reading some Rub-N-Buff reviews is that it might rub off. Im gonna go the Rust-Oleum route, I believe a local hardware store near me carries the full colour selection. I’ll definitely keep everyone posted. Thanks for the reply!

All my red bag people can anyone tell me what’s going on here? I washed and dried and conditioned with CPR. These blotches haven’t faded. I think they are water stains but I’m just not sure. The conditioner does make them darker temporarily. Should I wash again?

Were the marks visible before you dunked or did they just show up after? With my red bag I had some spots that were there before I dunked and some that showed up after. I took a dripping wet paper towel with dawn soap and wiped over the areas with the marks and another dripping wet with paper with just water to go over the areas to remove the soapy residue. I kept doing that until the areas were pretty saturated with water and let them dry. They dried in about an hour or two and the spots that appeared after my first dunk went away completely but the spots that were there before the dunk remained but they have lightened. You could probably also try redunking it entirely, but it’ll take a long time to dry fully and I definitely know that anxiety of waiting to see if the spots are gone after a dunk:frown: hope this helps and good luck!

I just called Coach Customer Service and once again I got no joy to my request for a replacement turnlock for a vintage bag. They're not "playing the Covid Card" any longer, they are just saying "we don't stock them, so take the bag to a retail store to be assessed to see if it can be repaired!"

What are the current theories on the best/cheapest places to buy replacement coach-style turnlocks? Thanks!

BUCKLE GUY!!! I order from them, so does Paris Girl. They have the cheapest price & you can get both brass or nickel hardware replacements. The quality is amazing too, they’re made of solid brass. Just make sure you keep your bag’s original oval washer because the one the set comes with has dents:

Thanks! I've ordered items from BuckleGuy in the past and I've always been satisfied. I looked at his turnlocks previously and noticed the dents which suggest a fake bag. It's fine when you have an extra oval washer in the correct color, but but what do you do if the turnlock is missing?

This court was dyed from BT to burgundy last year, but I wasn’t happy with the result. It came as 5 bags rehab lot, ( included a terrible condition Casey, which I dyed, repaired pipping damage as much as I can, added tea rose appliqués all over the flap, and sold on eBay fully disclosed for $19, definitely spent more on materials, the other 4 bags were a very poor condition black Station, a very stained BT basic bag, a very stained BT court, and a black large Courier appeared was dyed black by previous owner ). As to this court, it has no structural damage, but lots of stain marks, got even worse after dunk, so it was dyed with Feibings burgundy pro dye, but the stains still shown as lots darkened area , especially on the flap, I wasn’t satisfied and put it back to rehab pile.
somehow I find the motivation the past week to rework it, it was dyed with Roma Burgundy dye this time, the shade is darker burgundy now and hides the stains better. I applied 3 coats CPR and 1 Coat Black Rock, leave it unsealed, as long as not get wet, the color won’t rub off.
Thanks to the tip from another Vintage Coach fan / collector, I glued rare earth magnets on the backs of 2 set of tearoses ( the left overs of remaining few tea rose charms, that’s why they have holes on it), and attached them to the flap by magnets, no modifications to the bag, they stay in place very good but also removable. Finally I am happy with this bag and can carry it with pride, Lol..,
First photo is from listing photo, as I didn’t take any befores, other photos are afters, with or without removable tea roses appliqués.

If you buy the set, it comes with everything, including the Turn lock. Im a little confused, if you’re replacing a vintage coach’s turn lock, the buckle guys’s set is what you’d want. Or am I misunderstanding your post?

The back plate ( washer) for the male part of turn lock from buckle guy has indentations, which many fakes use that kind of back plates
ETA: you can reuse the original back plate, but Katev’s bag has no turn lock

Lovely! I have a black/nickel court that I don’t carry because the front flap on one side is really faded. If I dye it black on the faded part, Id have to dye the whole bag as well or else it’ll look weird. I like what you did with the tea roses! If you ever make ones with a silver/nickel centre, pm me! Id love to do something like that to my court!

Oh, so @katev, you’re missing the oval washer then not the turn lock?

@LunaSilver is correct, I have no problem with Buckleguy's fine-quality products but I am concerned about the "fake-looking" dents in the washer for the female portion of the turnlock.

@Coachaddict4020 that's a very generous offer but I don't actually have a bag that needs new turnlock hardware at this time, but thank you!

In the past it has been my practice to keep one intact replacement set each for both brass and nickel turnlocks on-hand, in case I come across a bag that has missing or broken turnlock hardware (and I have broken a couple over the years, too!) Coach was always inconsistent about mailing free turnlock kits (and hangtags). Sometimes they would come quickly and other times you might wait weeks or months. I've never complained because they were free and genuine, but it was handy to keep a couple on-hand - but that hasn't been an option since they've stopped sending them.

Below are a couple of examples of bags I've rehabbed that were missing pieces of the turnlock hardware and it was very handy to have some available. Right now I only have a few odds and ends, and no complete turnlock kits. But I still have one brass washer so I will place an order from Buckleguy to at least have one set available. Thanks again!
